Hideo Kojima said he would like to experience weightlessness and see Earth from above the atmosphere—and imagined using a trip to space to make a game designed for zero gravity. The idea came up in a hypothetical conversation, not as an announced project or a booked flight.

What did Hideo Kojima say he would do in space?

GamesRadar+ reports that Kojima discussed the idea on Koji10 episode 36. He said he would like to see Earth from above the atmosphere and experience weightlessness. He also joked that he might get motion sick—or, in space, space sick.

Then he turned the thought into a game-design problem: “I’d also like to make a game to play in zero gravity,” he said, followed by: “You can turn upside down. So the controls would have to change.” GamesRadar+ attributes those lines to Kojima and links to the Koji10 episode 36 video; the linked YouTube page does not provide a transcript or timestamp for the remarks.

How might zero gravity change the controls?

Kojima’s brief example is orientation: in a floating environment, a player character could turn upside down, so the familiar relationship between direction and control might no longer hold. He did not describe a specific control scheme, game mechanic, title, or platform. The point was that designing for weightlessness could call for different controls, not that a particular game is in development.

What was behind the “no other skills” joke?

In the same exchange, Kojima said: “I’d like to go for another purpose, but I don’t have any other skills.” It is a self-deprecating punchline in a hypothetical conversation about a space trip, not a serious account of his abilities or a statement about a confirmed mission.

Was Kojima planning a space trip or announcing a game?

No. The report describes musings that mention the Moon, Mars, Venus and the International Space Station. Kojima imagined staying on the ISS for six months, returning to Earth to make the game, and then going back to space. That is part of the imagined scenario, not a travel itinerary, space-agency proposal or announced game project.

His comment about motion sickness is likewise a personal remark attributed to him, not a medical finding. Neither the interview coverage nor the linked episode page establishes a scheduled flight or a zero-gravity game in production.
