Gundam Rogue Orbit is a new Gundam action game scheduled for March 5, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. It is not confirmed to be a “mech Monster Hunter”: Bandai Namco describes fast, melee-focused battles against the Apocalypse, while one hands-on preview reports a short demo built around distinct weapon moves. The game introduces a new timeline, with players piloting Gundam Helix as ace pilot RE-X.
What is Gundam Rogue Orbit?
Gundam Rogue Orbit is an upcoming action game developed by Bandai Namco Studios and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment America. Bandai Namco presents it as a fast-paced, narrative-driven entry in the Gundam franchise, set in a new timeline rather than a continuation identified with an established Gundam continuity. The publisher calls that timeline an entry point for new players, while also pitching the game as a new chapter for longtime fans. That is a positioning statement, not a promise that every story detail will be self-contained.

Bandai Namco’s September 3, 2026 announcement schedules Gundam Rogue Orbit for March 5, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. That is an announced release date, not confirmation that the schedule cannot change. Check the relevant storefront near launch for current regional availability and pricing; the announcement does not provide a detailed regional price comparison.

What does the combat look like?
Bandai Namco describes combat as fast and hard-hitting, with a focus on melee weapons and action across large ground and air zones. It says players can adjust their Mobile Suit and strategy as battles unfold. These are the publisher’s descriptions; the available preview does not establish the finished game’s full combat depth, balance or campaign structure.
PC Gamer Senior Editor Wes Fenlon reported playing about 30 minutes of a demo in his October 6, 2026 hands-on preview. He describes an action-focused session featuring two weapons:

- Sword Lance: In his account, a heavy lunge after dodging builds a meter; spending it produces a move called Beam Phalanx.
Fenlon compared the feel to a more accessible-feeling cousin of Armored Core 6. That is his impression of the demo, not an official genre label or evidence that the two games share systems. The “mech Monster Hunter” framing works as a hook for large-enemy battles, but the sources here do not establish a Monster Hunter-style hunt loop or progression system.
Can you customize Gundam Helix?
Yes, customization is an announced feature. Bandai Namco says players can equip different weapons, frames, thrusters and Apocalypse Units (AP-U), choose colors, and build loadouts around their preferred combat strategy. The publisher also says parts and AP-U can complement that strategy.

That feature was not hands-on verified in the cited PC Gamer demo: Fenlon notes that although he saw a customization screenshot on the Steam page, he did not use the customization screen himself. The available preview therefore does not establish how deep the system is, how many options it includes, or how equipment affects play in practice.
