What GabeCubeAura Audio Sync does
GabeCubeAura is a Decky plugin described as controlling the official Steam Machine’s integrated valve-leds strip. The project listing identifies the bar as having 17 pixels. A GameGPU report says version 1.3.2 adds Audio Sync, which uses locally processed game and system audio to animate the light bar in real time. The listing and report establish the intended function, but do not provide measured latency or performance figures.
The listing also describes other lighting and display features, including real-time screen color sync, custom effects and artwork-derived colors. Those are separate capabilities; the available Audio Sync account does not establish that any screen-sync components are required for audio-reactive lighting.

GameGPU reports ten visualization patterns and nine lighting presets. The report names Focus, Essential, Immersive, Festive and Lights Out among the presets. These are reported feature counts and examples, not independently tested results.

What you need to install it
- Target hardware: the official Steam Machine with its integrated 17-pixel
valve-ledslight bar, as specified by the project listing. - Software: Decky Loader on SteamOS.
- Permissions: the listing says the plugin requests Decky’s root flag because the light-bar sysfs files are root-owned.
The project listing describes installing a ZIP through Decky’s developer plugin-install flow and mentions a manual installation option. The material available does not spell out Audio Sync-specific dependencies or provide a full compatibility matrix for SteamOS builds, audio sources or hardware revisions. Check the release documentation for the version you intend to install rather than assuming every Steam Machine setup is supported.
How to install the plugin
The project listing describes a ZIP-based installation route. It does not provide enough verified detail to reproduce every menu label or confirm that the flow is unchanged in all Decky versions.

The detailed Audio Sync description, version number and feature counts come from GameGPU’s October 5, 2026 report, which links to Reddit. The project listing surfaced in search results and supplies the target hardware, Decky requirement and installation notes, but could not be independently inspected. Treat the feature details as reported rather than as hands-on verification.
Neither source provides a comprehensive list of supported SteamOS builds, audio capture paths or hardware revisions, nor measured latency, CPU use or other performance data. The listing’s separate controller-battery feature is said to rely on a private SteamInputManager service and to vary by controller; it does not establish universal controller support. Nothing in the available material shows that GabeCubeAura controls generic RGB strips or other devices beyond the Steam Machine’s integrated light bar.

Is GabeCubeAura the right option?
It is relevant if you have the official Steam Machine, use SteamOS with Decky Loader, and want the integrated light bar to respond to audio. If you are choosing an audio-reactive lighting setup for other hardware, these sources do not establish compatibility or provide a competing-product comparison. Confirm your device and software version against the project’s current release information before installing.
