The answer depends on what a particular tool does to or around the client. Roblox says modified versions or software that changes how Roblox works can lead to a temporary suspension, and repeated use can result in a permanent ban.
What Roblox’s policy says about shaders
Roblox Support states: “It’s against our rules to use modified versions of the Roblox app or any software that changes the way Roblox works.” Its anti-cheat guidance says using a modified version could lead to a temporary suspension or, if it happens repeatedly, a permanent ban.
That rule is broad, but Roblox’s cited guidance does not specifically mention shaders, ReShade, or a distinction between external visual post-processing and software that modifies or interferes with the Roblox client. So it does not establish that every shader setup is safe, nor that every shader setup automatically earns a ban. The important unresolved question is what the specific tool does.
Why a particular shader setup may matter
A tool that only changes the image output outside the Roblox client is technically different from one that injects into, modifies, or interferes with the client. That distinction is useful when assessing risk, but Roblox’s published guidance cited here does not classify those implementations or approve a particular shader tool. Do not treat a tool’s name or a claim that it is “just visual” as confirmation that Roblox permits it.

Roblox’s warning about modified software is not a prediction that a specific tool will be detected or that a particular penalty will follow. The policy explains possible account consequences, not a shader-specific detection rate or guaranteed outcome.
What to do if Roblox shows an incompatible-software warning
If Roblox reports an incompatible app, a modified version, or third-party software interaction, follow the official troubleshooting guidance rather than trying to work around the warning:

- Remove any unofficial or modified Roblox app. Reinstall Roblox from an official source if the warning concerns a modified version.
- Stop the software Roblox identifies as incompatible or interfering. If the warning returns, check background applications that may affect Roblox.
- On Windows, test whether Roblox works in Safe Mode if the warning persists. Roblox’s support page suggests this as a way to check whether a background application is involved.
These steps address Roblox’s warnings; they do not certify that a shader tool is allowed simply because it does not trigger a warning.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Roblox account bans and experience bans are different
A Roblox account action is different from a ban imposed by an individual experience creator. Roblox says creators can set custom rules and enforce them within their experiences. According to Roblox’s custom experience rules guidance, users who believe an experience-level ban is incorrect should appeal to that creator; Roblox Support does not handle appeals about violations of those custom rules.

How to think about the risk
- Roblox account risk: Roblox prohibits modified apps and software that changes how Roblox works; suspension or a permanent ban after repeated behavior are stated possible consequences.
- Experience-specific risk: A creator may enforce that experience’s custom rules, with appeals directed to the creator.
- Shader-specific certainty: The official guidance cited here does not name or approve specific shader tools, so a definitive yes-or-no answer for a particular tool is not established.
