BeamNG.drive is officially coming to PS5 on 19 October 2026, and footage described as running on PS5 Pro hardware has drawn attention for its convincing vehicle deformation. Push Square attributes the footage to YouTuber MuYe; its “wildly impressive” reaction is an editorial impression, not an independently verified performance test or a confirmed PS5 Pro feature announcement.
What the PS5 Pro footage shows—and what it does not prove
Push Square reports that MuYe shared early footage of BeamNG.drive running on PS5 Pro hardware and describes what it saw as impressive. The clip is useful as an early look at the game, especially its crash and deformation physics, but the available reporting does not establish measured frame rate, resolution, image quality, or performance under controlled conditions.

Nor does the footage confirm that BeamNG.drive has a PS5 Pro-specific enhancement. Sony says Pro-enhanced features are available only in selected PS5 games and vary by title. No reviewed source confirms a Pro requirement, or shows how the game will perform on the standard PS5. The official release announcement is for PS5 generally.
When does BeamNG.drive release on PS5?
BeamNG’s official announcement sets the PS5 release for 19 October 2026. That date is still upcoming as of 7 October 2026. The announcement also expects PC version 0.40 around the console release, but does not establish that the console and PC versions will launch with identical features.

What is BeamNG.drive, and why does its physics stand out?
BeamNG GmbH CEO Thomas Fischer describes BeamNG.drive as a real-time soft-body physics driving simulation. Rather than treating a car as a rigid object that simply plays a damage animation, the game represents vehicles as networks of nodes and beams that can flex, deform, or break. Fischer calls it “a driving sim unlike any other, powered by an uncompromising real-time soft-body physics engine” in his developer-authored PlayStation Blog overview.
That overview states that the physics engine updates at 2 kHz. Push Square separately reports that vehicle components are tracked at 240 Hz, without explaining how that figure relates to the developer’s engine-rate statement. These numbers may describe different systems, but the sources do not clarify the distinction; they should not be treated as interchangeable measurements.
What is confirmed about the PS5 launch build?
BeamNG says that VR and mods will not be supported at launch. It has not confirmed when or to what extent feature parity across platforms may expand, so PC features should not be assumed to appear on PS5 on a particular schedule.

Fischer’s overview describes a dozen open-world maps, a broad selection of vehicle configurations, customization, missions including races and time trials, and Freeroam with optional simulated traffic. Those are the developer’s overview of the game, not an exhaustive, separately confirmed inventory of the final PS5 launch build.

What should PS5 and PS5 Pro owners expect?
The early footage may be encouraging for players interested in seeing BeamNG’s vehicle physics on a console, but it is not enough to judge the final game’s image quality or performance. The confirmed facts are narrower: the game is announced for PS5 on 19 October 2026, launch support for VR and mods is excluded, and no reviewed source establishes a PS5 Pro enhancement or a Pro-only feature.
Sony’s 2024 PS5 Pro launch announcement cited 67% more GPU compute units, 28% faster memory, and up to 45% faster rendering compared with the then-current PS5. Those are Sony’s platform-level claims, not BeamNG.drive test results. The same announcement listed launch MSRPs of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY including tax; those are historical launch prices, not verified current retail prices.
