Confirm the puzzle
This is Connections game #624, published Monday, February 24, 2025. The date matters: this is an archive guide, not a current daily puzzle. TechRadar’s guide appeared on February 23 because the game changes at midnight in each time zone; Parade identifies the same puzzle as Monday’s #624.
The board contains these 16 words: MERMAID, CAVE, HEARTH, BUCKLE, BOW, SCARF, BUTTE, GULP, WOLF, COMPASS, CHINA, SHINE, SWALLOW, GIVE, ANCHOR, GOBBLE.
Progressive hints

Answers for Connections #624
Spoilers below. The answer groups are corroborated by Parade and TechRadar’s guides to the February 24, 2025 puzzle.
Yellow: Eat voraciously
GOBBLE, GULP, SCARF, WOLF. Each can describe eating quickly or greedily: you gobble, gulp, scarf down, or wolf down food.
Green: Bend under pressure
BOW, BUCKLE, CAVE, GIVE. In this context, each can mean yielding or giving way when pressure is applied: a structure may bow, buckle, or cave, and a person may give.
Blue: Classic nautical tattoos
ANCHOR, COMPASS, MERMAID, SWALLOW. These are traditional sailor tattoo motifs. The association is cultural rather than a set of objects found only on a ship.

BUTTE, CHINA, HEARTH, SHINE. Remove each word’s final letter and a body-part word remains: butt, chin, heart, and shin. That last-letter operation is the trick behind the group.
