Why did Pearl Abyss tell Intel GPU buyers to seek refunds?
On March 20, 2026, the launch FAQ said Crimson Desert did not support Intel Arc graphics cards and advised buyers who expected Arc support to consult the refund policy of the platform where they purchased the game. It was guidance to check that platform’s rules—not a promise that a refund would be granted or a statement of any storefront’s eligibility terms. Tom’s Hardware reported that the game could display “The graphics device is currently not supported” when launched on an Intel Arc B580 at that time; that is a launch-era report, not evidence of current behavior.

What did the developers say after the backlash?
On March 23, 2026, Pearl Abyss apologized for the FAQ wording and said it was working on Intel Arc compatibility and optimization. In a statement quoted by Tom’s Hardware, the studio said: “We apologize for any confusion our FAQ wording from several hours ago regarding playability on Intel Arc GPUs may have caused.” It also said it was working on compatibility and optimization support so the game could be enjoyed on Intel Arc systems.
Does Crimson Desert work on Intel-powered handhelds?
The current official FAQ confirms Intel Arc GPU support, but it does not confirm compatibility or performance for every Intel-powered handheld. A handheld’s specific graphics hardware and configuration matter, so do not treat the Arc support announcement as a blanket device-level guarantee. PC Guide’s March 20, 2026 coverage discussed Intel handheld concerns during the launch-era issue, but those observations do not establish the current status of every device.

Should you request a refund?
If you bought the game expecting it to run on an Intel Arc GPU, check the current refund policy for the platform where you purchased it. Eligibility depends on that platform’s rules and your purchase circumstances. The old FAQ’s advice was not itself a refund approval, and the current FAQ says Arc support has since been added.
