Start with Transformers One for an animated origin story
Choose Transformers One if you want a self-contained feature centered on the early relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron. Paramount announced that the film would begin streaming on Paramount+ in the United States and Canada on November 15, 2024. That was a launch announcement, not confirmation that the film is still available there: catalogs change by region and date. Start with the 1984 series for the original animated era
If you would rather begin with the original series, start with The Transformers, which premiered in 1984. Hasbro said in a 2024 anniversary announcement that viewers could watch the series on the Hasbro Pulse YouTube channel. Because that announcement is historical, check the channel to confirm the episodes remain available. The announced route means you do not need to buy anything just to try this starting point. Where the 1986 animated film fits
The Transformers: The Movie is an animated feature released in 1986. For the original-series path, Cinemark’s viewing guide places it between seasons two and three. That placement is specific to watching the original series; it is not an order that applies to every Transformers film, show, or continuity. Do you need a franchise-wide viewing order?
No single cross-continuity order is established by the sources cited here. Transformers includes works across multiple formats, and the two recommended starts serve different purposes: Transformers One offers an origin-story route, while the 1984 series begins the original animated route. Pick one based on your interest rather than trying to combine them into a chronology.

Paramount’s collection page notes that some films are not available on the service; its current catalog, rather than the 2024 Transformers One announcement, is the right place to check that film. Likewise, confirm the 1984 episodes are still on Hasbro Pulse’s channel before relying on Hasbro’s 2024 announcement. None of these viewing paths requires a purchase to decide where to begin.
