You can stream PS5 Pro gameplay to a Linux PC with chiaki-ng, a community-made Remote Play client. Sony’s official PC Remote Play support lists Windows and macOS, not Linux, so this setup uses third-party software—not a Sony Linux app. Enable Remote Play on the console, install chiaki-ng using its current Linux release instructions, then register the console and connect.
Does PS5 Remote Play work on Linux?
Yes, through chiaki-ng, an open-source third-party client for PS4 and PS5 Remote Play that supports Linux. Sony’s Remote Play documentation lists Windows PC and Mac as computer clients, but does not list Linux. chiaki-ng is not endorsed or certified by Sony, and its setup and performance are separate from Sony’s official PC app.

This guide is about viewing and controlling your console on your own Linux PC. It is not a guide to broadcasting gameplay publicly to Twitch, YouTube, or another audience.
What you need before connecting
- A PS5 Pro with Remote Play enabled.
- A Linux PC that can run a current chiaki-ng Linux release.
- A stable network connection between the console and PC. Starting on the same home network makes initial registration straightforward.
Sony’s PC/Mac guide recommends at least 5 Mbps upload and download for standard use and at least 15 Mbps upload and download for best performance. Those are Sony recommendations for its documented official PC/Mac client, not tested Linux thresholds or a guarantee of a particular result in chiaki-ng. Sony separately states a 5 Mbps minimum for official Remote Play and says resolution can reach up to 1080p depending on network quality; neither figure establishes a Linux or PS5 Pro-specific guarantee.
#1 Best Overall
- Ray Tracing - Immerse yourself in worlds with a new level of realism as rays of light are individually simulated, creating true-to-life shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games.
- Faster Loading - Fast-travel across the map and get back into the game almost instantly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-high-speed SSD and fast load times.
- Stunning Visuals - Experience the vast world in stunning 4K and HDR at 120 FPS (with a 4K and HDR compatible TV or display)
- Breathtaking Immersion - Discover a deeper gaming experience with support for haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and 3D Audio technology.
- Backwards Compatibility - Play over 4,000 PS4 games on PS5. Enjoy faster and smoother frame rates in some of the PS4 console's greatest games.
Enable Remote Play on the PS5 Pro
- On the console, open Settings > System > Remote Play.
- Select Enable Remote Play.
- If you want to wake the console remotely while it is in rest mode, open Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode. Enable Stay Connected to the Internet and Enable Turning on PS5 from Network.
To pair manually, Sony’s guide directs you to Settings > System > Remote Play > Pair Device while the PC and console are on the same network. chiaki-ng’s own registration interface may differ, so follow its current setup guide for the client-specific steps.
Install chiaki-ng on Linux and register the console
- Open the chiaki-ng releases page and choose a current Linux distribution. The project lists a Flathub Flatpak and AppImage releases for arm64 and x86_64.
- Check the release notes and the project’s setup instructions for the current installation steps and any prerequisites. The available packages and instructions can change between releases.
- Launch chiaki-ng and register or pair the PS5 Pro using the client’s current instructions. For manual pairing, use the console’s Pair Device screen described above and keep the PC and console on the same network.
- Select the registered console in chiaki-ng and start Remote Play. Adjust the client’s stream settings to suit your connection and hardware.
Sony’s official PC/Mac guide includes platform-specific system requirements and a USB-connected controller, but those requirements should not be assumed to apply to chiaki-ng on Linux. Check chiaki-ng’s current documentation for client-specific compatibility and controls.
Rank #2

Improve a stuttering or unstable stream
- Try Ethernet for the console. Sony says an Ethernet cable is the fastest and most reliable way to connect a PlayStation to a home network. Wiring the console to the router can reduce one source of wireless instability; it does not guarantee a particular stream quality.
- Reduce stream quality. If the connection is weak, lower the quality settings in chiaki-ng and see whether the stream becomes steadier.
- Check the whole connection. Test the network and limit other traffic competing for bandwidth. A good speed-test result alone does not ensure a stable Remote Play stream.
- Keep expectations realistic. Resolution, frame rate, HDR behavior, and latency depend on the client version, PC hardware, network, game, and configuration. The available documentation does not establish a universal PS5 Pro result for Linux.
Know the limits
Not every game or console feature works with Remote Play. Sony notes that some games are unsupported, content requiring peripherals may not be playable, and certain console features cannot be used at the same time as Remote Play. Sony also identifies additional restrictions when PS5 CFI-7000 model group consoles output game images to an 8K TV. Consult Sony’s Remote Play support page for the relevant restrictions.
