Yes—some games that are no longer sold digitally may still have physical copies circulating, but availability depends on the title, edition, region and seller. Search the exact game title with “PS5 disc,” “PS4 disc” and “physical edition,” then verify that the listing is for a game disc and that your PS5 can play it.
How do you find a delisted game on disc?
- Search the exact title with physical-format terms. Try the title plus “PS5 disc,” “PS4 disc” and “physical edition.” If it had multiple releases, include the publisher or edition name to narrow the results.
- Check used-game retailers, local game shops and marketplace listings. A game disappearing from a digital store does not mean it had a disc release, so first confirm that a physical edition was made.
- Verify what the seller is actually offering. Check listing photos and description for the platform and edition. A box, collectible edition or digital code without the game disc is not a physical game copy.
- Compare the full terms of each listing. Check disc and case condition, included inserts or codes, return terms, shipping and total cost. Confirm whether online features or downloads are required for the game.
Availability, condition and price vary by title and seller. No particular game or live listing is identified here, so check current stock and the exact edition before buying.

Will a PS5 play a PS4 game disc?
A PS5 with a disc drive can play PS5 and PS4 game discs. Sony says the overwhelming majority of PS4 games are playable on PS5, but some are not; consult its current PS5 backward compatibility guidance for the title you want. Sony’s support page currently names these PS4-only games: Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume One, Just Deal With It!, Robinson: The Journey, We Sing, Hitman Go: Definitive Edition and Shadwen. Sony notes that the list may change.
A PS4 disc may be a useful option if a separate PS5 disc edition is unavailable, but it remains the PS4 edition unless the listing explicitly identifies a PS5 version. You must leave the PS4 disc inserted each time you play on PS5, and an update may be required. Some games offer a PS4-to-PS5 upgrade; Sony says upgrade availability and terms vary, and an upgrade may require an internet connection or an additional purchase. Check the game’s terms rather than assuming an upgrade is included.

Check your PS5 before ordering a disc
A disc-drive PS5 is required to use PS5 or PS4 game discs. Sony’s US PS5 page describes PS5 Digital Edition as digital-only and without a disc drive; Sony support likewise says PS4 discs cannot be used with PS5 Digital Edition. Confirm your exact console edition before buying. Sony reports that more than 99 percent of the 4,000+ games available on PS4 are playable on PS5, but that broad figure does not guarantee compatibility for a particular title or provide a disc drive for a digital-only console.

On July 1, 2026, Sid Shuman, Senior Director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications, announced that production of discs for new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will end starting in January 2028. He said, “This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format.” The announcement addresses production for new releases; it does not confirm that a particular older physical game is in stock or predict its future resale availability.
