When an Overwatch season ends, its featured Mythic hero skin leaves the Mythic Shop and is unavailable for the next two seasons. Blizzard says it gets another chance to be unlocked in the third season after its debut. If you unlocked the skin’s base level before it left, you can keep unlocking its customization levels while it is out of the shop; if you did not, you must wait for its return.
When does a Mythic skin come back to the shop?
Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ says the featured Mythic is available for the length of its season, then cycles out for the following two seasons. That means its next stated opportunity is the third season after it debuted—not the season immediately after it leaves.
This is a rotation, not a claim that a missed skin is permanently gone. Blizzard introduced the seasonal shop approach in its Mythic Shop developer update; the FAQ gives the practical timing. It does not provide an item-by-item return calendar, so check the live Mythic Shop and current season announcements for a particular skin’s status.
Can you still upgrade a Mythic skin after the season ends?

Blizzard’s FAQ specifically allows continued customization after the base level is unlocked. It does not give players who missed the base level the same immediate access to that skin’s progression while it is out of rotation.

What currency do Mythic skins and upgrades use?
Mythic Prisms are the currency used in the Mythic Shop for Mythic cosmetics and their customizations. Blizzard’s Season 10 announcement described a then-current example of 50 Prisms for a skin’s base level and 10 for each of three additional levels, or 80 total. Completing that season’s Premium Battle Pass provided 80 Prisms. Those are Season 10 figures from 2024, not a guaranteed current price or reward for every season.
The format has evolved. Blizzard’s Season 19 update said Tier 1 would grant the complete Mythic skin design, with later tiers adding alternate components, colors, and ambient effects. Its Season 17 announcement also described a Mythic hero skin and a Mythic weapon skin becoming available at launch. Check the current shop for the specific item’s tiers and Prism cost.

Blizzard’s 2026 Overwatch Spotlight said that year’s seasons would bring two new Mythic hero skins per season, with multiple Mythics planned across the season cycle. That roadmap is context, not confirmation that a particular older skin is available now or a substitute for checking its listing in the game.
