The company named Dying Light: The Beast as the first project in that future, alongside unannounced games and plans to expand the series beyond video games. The announcement’s plans were forward-looking at the time; they do not establish current release status.
What did Techland mean by the “next era” of Dying Light?
Techland used the phrase in its January 27, 2025 announcement marking ten years since the original Dying Light launched in 2015. The company said: “At the same time we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of Dying Light, we are already hard at work on the next era of the franchise.” Techland’s anniversary announcement framed that era as several projects and franchise extensions, not one newly revealed game.

Techland also reported that the franchise had reached more than 45 million players as of the 2025 anniversary announcement. That is the company’s reported figure at that time, not a current player count. The series’ anniversary messaging highlighted day-and-night survival, parkour, and visceral combat as defining features.
What was Dying Light: The Beast?
Dying Light: The Beast was the one named game in the announcement’s future slate. Techland described it as a standalone game and called it the first part of its ambitious future. In January 2025, the company planned it for Summer 2025; the announcement alone does not confirm whether that window was met or establish the game’s current release status.
