These Nintendo 3DS games offer different reasons to return: ongoing routines, repeatable races and matches, collecting, and longer-term progression. The best fit depends on which kind of loop you enjoy.
How these games earn repeat sessions
This is a guide to distinct replay loops, not a ranked scorecard. A continuing simulation rewards regular visits; racing and fighting games invite another attempt or match; collection-focused games offer goals around building a roster; and role-playing games can reward sustained progression. Social features can add another reason to revisit, but a historical StreetPass listing does not establish that those interactions are available or active today.
Nintendo’s official StreetPass games list includes several titles below. Nintendo’s 3DS software sales data also confirms the platform and title names. Neither source measures how replayable a game is.
8 Nintendo 3DS games to return to
1. Animal Crossing: New Leaf — for an ongoing routine
Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the clearest fit for players who like a game that can be revisited as part of an ongoing routine rather than finished in a single push. Nintendo includes it in its StreetPass list. Nintendo’s sales page notes that Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo was sold from November 23, 2016; that edition distinction matters if you are looking for the updated release or specific content.

One Nintendo World Report staff member’s 2014 Activity Log showed 1,997 hours and 9 minutes with the game. That is an individual example, not a typical playtime, completion estimate, or measure of how much most players will enjoy it.
2. Mario Kart 7 — for repeat races and track mastery
Mario Kart 7 suits players who enjoy replaying races, refining their performance, or competing again. Nintendo lists it among 3DS software and StreetPass games. Its appeal is in the short-session structure: a race is easy to revisit without needing to resume a long story. StreetPass support is a historical feature listing, not evidence of current player activity.
3. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y — for collection and team-building
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are separate Nintendo 3DS editions built around collection and developing a team. Both appear in Nintendo’s 3DS software data and StreetPass list. They are good candidates if assembling a roster is a stronger motivator than repeating a fixed set of races or matches. Do not assume that online features remain available; current service status is not established here.
4. Fire Emblem: Awakening — for tactical role-playing
Fire Emblem: Awakening offers a tactical role-playing alternative to the simulation, racing, and collection loops elsewhere on this list. It appears in Nintendo’s StreetPass listing, and a Nintendo World Report staff Activity Log compilation includes an individual playtime example. Those sources establish its platform and a historical social feature, but do not provide a representative replay-time figure or a basis for ranking its replay goals.
Rank #3
- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
5. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate — for returning to a social-featured 3DS title
Nintendo’s StreetPass list confirms Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as a Nintendo 3DS title with StreetPass interactions. The evidence cited here does not quantify its progression or establish present-day availability of its social features, so treat StreetPass as a documented feature rather than a guarantee of active players or current connectivity.
6. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS — for repeat matches
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is the match-based option in this group. Nintendo includes it in the StreetPass games list. Its fit is straightforward for players who want to return for another bout rather than build toward a long-form completion goal. The listing alone cannot tell you how easy it is to find other players now.
Rank #4
- This is the world edition. It has different packaging but is fully authentic and works on US region 3DS systems.
- The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest - a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.
- “E10+”, w/Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes
7. Bravely Default — for extended role-playing sessions
Bravely Default appears in Nintendo World Report’s 2014 list of staff Activity Log playtime examples. That is anecdotal evidence that at least one staff member spent substantial time with it, not a typical duration or proof of a particular replay loop. It is a role-playing pick for readers looking for a different style of extended play from the action, racing, and match-focused choices above.
8. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy — for score-focused return visits
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is another title included in Nintendo World Report’s staff playtime feature. The source supplies an individual logged-play example, not a population measure. It broadens this list beyond conventional racing and role-playing games for readers drawn to repeatable, skill-focused sessions.

- This renewed game will not come with the original case or manual; cartridge only. It has been cleaned, tested, and is in nice condition.
What the playtime examples can—and cannot—tell you
Nintendo World Report’s 2014 feature, “Top 10 3DS Playtimes,” compiles staff Activity Log examples for several games on this list, including Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Pokémon X/Y, Mario Kart 7, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Bravely Default, and Theatrhythm. These are individual records from staff, not a survey of players. They illustrate that long logged sessions happened, but they do not establish an average, a completion time, or an objective ranking of replay value.
Choosing the right replay loop
- Choose a continuing routine: Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
- Choose repeatable competition: Mario Kart 7 for races or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS for matches.
- Choose collecting and team-building: Pokémon X or Pokémon Y.
- Choose role-playing: Fire Emblem: Awakening or Bravely Default.
- Choose a title with a documented StreetPass listing: Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Mario Kart 7, either Pokémon edition, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The listing does not verify present availability or activity.
Buying a Nintendo 3DS game
If you are shopping for a physical copy, check the exact game and edition, cartridge condition, seller, and current stock before buying. Availability and condition vary, and Nintendo’s title listings do not establish current retailer inventory.
