When was the Black Ops 6 reveal?
The reveal was scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET), as part of the Xbox Games Showcase. Xbox listed the corresponding times as 6 p.m. BST and 7 p.m. CET on June 9, and 2 a.m. JST and 3 a.m. AEST on June 10. The dedicated Direct began immediately after the Showcase; no separate fixed start time was announced. Call of Duty’s June 6 event update repeated the scheduled time, while Xbox’s June 9 recap documents what the broadcasts revealed.

What did the Showcase and Direct reveal?
The Showcase featured the game’s gameplay reveal. The immediately following Direct went deeper into the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. Xbox had first announced on April 30 that a previously redacted Direct would follow the Showcase, then identified it on May 23 as a full show dedicated to Black Ops 6. Joe Skrebels, Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief, wrote: “We’re delighted to announce that our previously-redacted Direct broadcast will be a full show dedicated to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.” The May 23 Xbox announcement contains that update.
What did the reveal establish about the game?
Campaign premise
Xbox described Black Ops 6 as a spy action thriller set in the early 1990s, involving a shadowy force within the U.S. government and a team forced to go rogue. Activision’s game page situates the campaign against the Gulf War and says Frank Woods and his team are hunted after a clandestine force infiltrates the CIA. Movement and modes
Xbox highlighted Omnimovement, describing a system that lets players sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. The recap also noted the return of Classic Prestige, Theater Mode, and round-based Zombies. Activision lists 16 multiplayer maps at launch: 12 core maps for 6v6 and four Strike maps playable in 2v2 or 6v6. Its page also lists two round-based Zombies maps available at launch. Activision lists October 25, 2024, as the release date. Its platform list includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Microsoft PC Store, Steam, Battle.net, and Game Pass. Xbox said in May 2024 that Game Pass members would be able to play on day one; its June recap specified Game Pass Ultimate, PC, and Console plans. Those were launch-era announcements, not confirmation of current subscription terms or availability. Check the relevant storefront and subscription plan for present-day access details. Activision’s game page lists the release date and platforms; Xbox’s May announcement and June recap describe Game Pass at launch.
