Spoilers for the finale of Dispatch. Giving Shroud the Astral Pulse leads into the episode’s major confrontation, but it does not guarantee that Robert will decide Shroud’s fate. Depending on Invisigal’s season-long mentorship path, she may kill Shroud herself, or Robert may get the option to spare or kill him.
What happens if you give Shroud the Astral Pulse?
The handover is the pivotal choice in the finale branch covered by walkthroughs. After it, the confrontation can resolve in different ways based in part on Invisigal’s relationship with Robert and how her path has developed. Gamepressure’s Episode 8 walkthrough and ending guide describe a route where Invisigal attacks Shroud first; on that route, Robert does not receive a separate spare-or-kill choice.

Why can Invisigal take over the decision?
Her finale path reflects more than Robert’s dialogue choices in the last scene. PC Gamer quoted AdHoc support representative Polly rejecting the claim that the outcome was a glitch: “Succeeding or failing as Invisigal’s mentor is not solely tied to the choices you make as Robert, but also the decisions you make as her dispatcher across the season’s shifts.” PC Gamer’s report therefore points players to both mentorship decisions and dispatch choices during the season.
Players have discussed a Robert Mentor Counter (RMC) value of 45 as a possible threshold. PC Gamer described that figure as player-derived analysis; it is not an official published game rule, and the game does not show the counter to players. Treat 45 as a community-reported estimate, not a guaranteed requirement or a formula for forcing a particular finale.

There are several related but distinct questions in the finale: whether Invisigal or Robert acts against Shroud, what Robert chooses if he receives the decision, and how Invisigal’s own route resolves. The walkthroughs support the first two distinctions, while the season-long mentorship evidence explains why her intervention can vary. Do not assume that the Shroud choice alone determines a specific romance resolution; the available reporting does not establish a deterministic romance formula.
