The Archaeological Hunt was a limited-time Fisch event reported to have run from November 23–30, 2024. It has ended, and no return had been confirmed as of October 4, 2026, so players cannot assume they can start the hunt now. When it was active, the quest required catching ten fishable bones across five islands before using a player-specific note to open the Archaeological Site and reach the Relic Rod.
All 10 bone locations
These collectibles are caught by fishing in the listed areas; they are not objects to pick up on land. Island-level locations are consistent across the event guides, though exact sub-areas can differ, especially around Snowcap.
| Bone | Island | Where to fish |
|---|---|---|
| Claw Gill | Moosewood | Moosewood Pond, also described as the Moosewood Freshwater Pond. |
| Fossil Fan | Moosewood | Near the docks. |
| Barracuda’s Spine | Moosewood | Near the docks. |
| Spine Bone | Roslit Bay | Coral area. |
| Spine Blade | Roslit Bay | Coral area. |
| Shark Fang | Roslit Bay | Coral area. |
| Nessie’s Spine | Mushgrove Swamp | Alligator Marsh area. |
| Spined Fin | Snowcap Island | Pond and cave area; guides also mention nearby icebergs, so no single exclusive spot is established. |
| Ancient Serpent Skull | Forsaken Shores | Pond under or near the waterfall. |
| Ancient Serpent Spine | Forsaken Shores | Pond under or near the waterfall. |
The distribution is three bones at Moosewood, three at Roslit Bay, one at Mushgrove Swamp, one at Snowcap Island, and two at Forsaken Shores. There is no established special weather or bait requirement. One guide recommends using your best general-purpose luck or lure-speed bait as general advice, not as a quest condition.
How to complete Dr. Finneus’s hunt
- Find Dr. Finneus during the event. He was at a boat in the ocean near Snowcap, reported around X:1170, Y:130, Z:2455–2460. Speak to him and check the Archaeologist Bestiary.
- Catch all ten bones. Fish at the locations in the table and track the catches in the event bestiary. A practical island grouping is Moosewood, Roslit Bay, Forsaken Shores, then Mushgrove Swamp and Snowcap; this groups the documented catches for convenience, rather than following an official route.
- Return to Dr. Finneus. Completing the bestiary was reported to award a Handwritten Note. The event wiki also lists the Hour Glass Bobber as a completion reward.
- Use the note and in-game map or marker to reach the Archaeological Site. Published coordinate sets conflict, so do not rely on one coordinate as definitive. Follow your own in-game directions.
- Enter the glyph sequence from your note. At the central stone panel, press the symbols in the order shown on your Handwritten Note, reading left to right and then top to bottom. The sequence is player-specific; there is no universal button order.
- Go through the opened gate. The gate opens for your session. Follow the passage into the cave to reach the Relic Rod, reported to cost C$8,000.
Why published Archaeological Site coordinates differ
Historical guides give different coordinates for the site: Fisch Wiki lists X:4160, Y:125, Z:210; Destructoid gives (4040, 130, 80); Pro Game Guides gives (4043.7, 131.9, 74.3); and a Fandom entry gives (4212.7, 129.6, 34.4). These conflicting figures make the in-game note or marker the safer way to navigate when the event is available.

Can you still get the bones or Relic Rod?
The hunt was reported as a November 23–30, 2024 limited-time event, and a December 2024 guide says it had ended, with the fossils and Relic Rod unavailable until a return. As of October 4, 2026, the consulted sources did not confirm a rerun. Treat the locations and quest steps above as a guide to the historical event, not evidence that the quest is currently open.
