The town’s silk haunting is a story objective; it is separate from Hornet’s Cursed Crest, which is a different mechanic.
What happens when Bellhart is cursed?
If Hornet arrives before Widow is defeated, she finds residents strung up in silk and most buildings closed. The Bellway remains accessible, the town card reads “Haunted Bellhart,” and the “SAVE: The Threadspun Town” objective appears. The Bellhart area guide describes the state of the town and the objective.
How to lift Bellhart’s curse
- Reach Widow and defeat her. The Act objective identifies defeating Widow as the way to free Bellhart; see the Act 1 objective guide.
- Return to Bellhart. The haunting is lifted, shops open, and the Wishwall appears.
Freeing the town comes at a cost: the area guide describes severe losses among Bellhart’s residents. The rescue is not a consequence-free return to the town’s former state.
How to reach Bellhart
The usual route is through Greymoor’s west entrance after defeating Moorwing. Two alternatives let you enter without first defeating Moorwing, but both defer that fight until Act 2.

What to do after freeing Bellhart
Restore the town
Restoration becomes available after you have upgraded the Needle, sold at least one Relic to Scrounge, spoken to Pavo, and rested outside Bellhart before returning. The Restoration wish costs 250 Rosaries. When it is introduced, Pavo says: “Harken, ye holy! Our home has been cleansed of evil, but now we are tasked with restoring its former glory! Share your rosaries with us, that the work may begin.” The Bellhart guide lists the prerequisites and cost.

Unlock Bellhart’s Glory
Bellhart’s Glory costs 400 Rosaries and requires Restoration, plus one of three progression triggers described in the Wishwall guide. It belongs to Bellhart’s later restoration progression, rather than the steps needed to lift the curse.

Defeating Widow frees the town. Hornet’s Cursed Crest is a separate mechanic affecting Hornet after the Rite of Rebirth; it is not how Bellhart is saved. “Cursed Crest” is not an official in-game name: the community wiki says the label is based on internal files, naming consistency, and patch notes.
