The 2022-era Red Dead Redemption 2 mod picks below cover fast travel, new activities, exploration, combat, visuals, roleplay and sandbox tools. They are community mods for the PC version, not console add-ons or Red Dead Online content. The original roundup page was updated in 2025, but that does not establish that every mod still works with a current game build. Treat the choices as a guide to what each mod changes, then check its current requirements before installing.
Which RDR2 mods suit your play style?
The original Beebom roundup presents a subjective selection under a 2022 label. Its accessible text confirms the following entries; it does not expose all 15 names, so this is not a complete transcription of that list. These verified picks are easier to compare by the kind of play they change.

The list’s range matters more than its ranking: Instant Fast Travel addresses convenience, Contracts and Bank Robberies add activities, while Basic Needs changes routine play. A broad trainer such as Rampage is a different proposition from a texture or behavior mod. Choose based on the experience you want to change, not simply the number in a roundup.
What to know before installing RDR2 mods
These recommendations concern PC modding. The Nexus community guide says a legitimate full copy of the game is required and that standalone Red Dead Online is not sufficient for this setup. Understand the loader distinction
The guide distinguishes asset replacement from custom scripts: Lenny’s Mod Loader (LML) handles replacements such as textures or audio, while ScriptHook enables custom scripts. It says Ultimate ASI Loader works with ScriptHook. These roles are not interchangeable, and some mod packages may use more than one installation method.
Follow each mod’s own installation instructions
Files may belong in the game’s root directory or in the lml folder; packages can combine both types. Do not assume that every mod uses the same folder or loader. Check the individual listing for required frameworks, game-version notes and file placement before copying anything.

Add mods one at a time and watch for conflicts
The community guide warns that two mods editing the same files can overwrite each other, and recommends checking conflicts. Pro Game Guides also advises installing one mod at a time because compatibility varies by PC and by mod combination. Managers can help organize priority and conflicts, but they do not make incompatible files compatible.
How to choose a stable combination
- Start with the playthrough. For a first story run, favor focused convenience or exploration changes over broad systems that alter many routines. For a replay or sandbox session, a trainer or novelty mod may make more sense.
- Check requirements on the mod’s current page. Confirm the loader, other dependencies and any stated game-version limits; a mention in a 2022 roundup is not a compatibility guarantee.
- Be cautious with overlapping changes. Visual and texture mods can touch the same assets, while gameplay overhauls may affect shared behavior or files. Install incrementally so a conflict is easier to identify.
- Keep an easy rollback path. Preserve unmodified files or use the manager and installation method recommended by the mod author, so you can remove a problematic addition cleanly.
The Nexus guide author also flags certain outdated loader approaches, high-resolution texture packages, very large content additions and time-speed mods as potential sources of problems. These are cautions from that guide, not a guarantee that a particular mod will fail; check the current mod page and its recent posts for the combination you plan to use.

Other 2022 recommendations are not missing entries
Pro Game Guides’ separate 2022 list recommends options including Bounties Expansion, Hunting Wagon, Model Swap Save, Save Editor and Red Dead Trainer, alongside some overlapping picks. MojoPlays’ August 24, 2022 video description mentions Hunting Wagon, Telekinesis, Bank Robberies, Hot Air Balloon Mod and MiniNPCs. These are separate editorial selections, not evidence of the names omitted from the accessible Beebom roundup text. Consult their listings as alternatives rather than silently treating them as part of the matching 15-mod list.
