On April 7, 2024, Helldivers 2 players completed Operation Swift Disassembly and drove the Automatons from the active Galactic War map. The next Major Order shifted the fight to the Terminid front, calling for the liberation of Hellmire, Estanu, and Crimsica.
How Operation Swift Disassembly ended
Windows Central reported that more than 250,000 Helldivers took part in the campaign to liberate Maia, Tibit, and Durgen. The weekend Major Order ended with Durgen liberated and Operation Swift Disassembly complete. The figure is the outlet’s reported participant total: its report does not establish an independently audited count or say that 250,000 players were online simultaneously.

After the victory, the visible Galactic War map showed no planets or sectors under Automaton control. That was a milestone in the campaign as it stood then, not evidence that the Automaton faction had been permanently removed from the game.
Windows Central quoted the official Helldivers account’s victory post: “You did it, Helldivers. Operation Swift Disassembly was a success! With the bots eradicated and bugs contained, the galaxy is free once more.” No individual speaker was identified. Read the April 7, 2024 report.

The next Major Order returned players to the Terminids
The follow-up order named three bug-front planets: Hellmire, Estanu, and Crimsica. Players were directed to liberate them to clear the way for safer, more efficient E-710 farms. Windows Central described E-710 as oil produced from decomposing Terminids in Helldivers 2’s fictional universe—a grimly comic detail that turns the order’s resource objective into part of the game’s satire.
The report said the order had a deadline early Tuesday morning and that liberation progress was already underway when the story was updated. Those were April 7, 2024 campaign details, not a current deadline or live status.

What the victory did—and did not—mean
Operation Swift Disassembly was a community campaign achievement: the Automaton-controlled territory disappeared from the map shown at the time, and the Major Order immediately redirected attention to Terminids. The report’s speculation about a future Automaton return, an event called “The Reclamation,” or the Illuminate was not a confirmed outcome. This account does not establish which faction or order is active now.
