2XKO Early Access began on October 7, 2025, as Season 0 and Riot’s first full-feature version of the fighting game. Riot’s original plan called for five seasons and five new champions in 2026, but its August 2026 update says active development will end in December. The game is scheduled to receive Lux in September and Samira in October, with Samira the final planned champion.
When did 2XKO Early Access start?
Riot announced on September 23, 2025, that Closed Beta would end and Early Access would begin on October 7. Riot called Early Access Season 0 and described it as the game’s first full-feature version, including features such as combo trials. Riot’s Early Access announcement also said the tenth champion would arrive with the launch.
What characters did Riot plan to add?
The September 2025 plan
In its September 2025 announcement, Riot projected five seasons for 2026. Each was planned to bring a new champion, a Ranked reset and a Battle Pass. This was a roadmap projection, not a guarantee that all five seasons would be delivered; Riot later announced a change to the game’s development plans.
The February 2026 preview
On February 13, 2026, game director Shaun “Unconkable” Rivera named Akali as the next champion and introduced Senna as another upcoming character. The post framed these details as work in progress. It also identified duo play, core gameplay, and community and competitive programs as priorities. Rivera’s February update records that preview as it stood at the time.

The August 2026 update
Riot’s August 20, 2026 update says Lux was scheduled for the September patch and Samira for October, with Samira the final champion planned. Riot also said it intended to finish existing work, make balance changes and complete a final bug-fix pass in December. These are the plans stated in that update, rather than a promise that every item has already shipped. Riot’s development update provides the latest outlook covered here.
Is 2XKO still being updated?
Riot said active development would conclude at the end of 2026. That does not mean the game is scheduled to go offline at that point: Riot says 2XKO will remain online after active development ends and that it will give players advance notice if that changes. Its stated December plan included a final bug-fix pass, but the update does not establish a continuing schedule of new content or updates beyond 2026.
