If Minecraft says your Microsoft account was disconnected when you try to invite someone, sign in again from the main menu, then close and reopen the affected world. That is the game’s direct instruction. If invitations still fail, check the sign-in flow for your platform before moving on to updates, multiplayer permissions, service status, or network settings. The message alone does not show that your account was disabled or compromised.
Try these account and world checks first
Work through the checks in order and retry the invitation after the first two. The wording appears in an invitation and multiplayer context; it does not identify a single cause. In Bedrock 1.19.60, the in-game string reads: “Oops! Your Microsoft Account was disconnected. To invite more players, sign in on the Main Menu and restart your world.” The versioned localization file documents the wording, not a universal diagnosis for current versions.

- Sign in from Minecraft’s main menu. Return to the main menu, choose the sign-in option, and authenticate with the Microsoft account you intend to use.
- Restart the affected world. Close the world, reopen it, and try the invitation again. This follows the action stated in the error itself.
- Refresh the session using your platform’s sign-in flow. Minecraft’s sign-out and sign-in instructions vary by device. On Xbox, close Bedrock, sign out of the Xbox profile, then sign back in. On PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, open Settings → Account, sign out of the Microsoft account, choose the sign-in option, and complete the prompted code flow. In the PC Launcher, log out and choose Microsoft Login again.
- Confirm you are using the intended Microsoft account. Make sure Minecraft is connected to the account you mean to use. On PC, account ownership can matter if Minecraft or the launcher does not recognize a game license; Minecraft’s sign-in guide explains its account checks.
Windows PC: align the accounts
Sign in to the Xbox app first
If you play on Windows and the right account still produces a sign-in error, sign in to the Xbox app with that Microsoft account, then launch Minecraft and retry. Minecraft says this can sometimes resolve sign-in errors. Check that the accounts in Minecraft, the Xbox app, and—where relevant—the Microsoft Store are the ones you intend to use. See Minecraft’s sign-in guidance for account and ownership details.
Separate sign-in trouble from a license problem
If the launcher says you do not own the game, that is a different symptom from an invitation-only disconnection message. Verify which account owns Minecraft before treating the license warning as a multiplayer-session problem.

5. Update Minecraft and coordinate versions
Install the latest release available for your platform, and ask the friend or host to update as well. Different or outdated game versions can prevent multiplayer connections. Minecraft lists version mismatches among its multiplayer connection checks.
6. Check account permissions and the world’s multiplayer setting
For Bedrock, confirm that the account is permitted to play multiplayer and that the host’s world allows multiplayer. If the account belongs to a child, an adult family account owner may need to review its settings. Console online play may also require the platform’s applicable subscription. Minecraft’s multiplayer troubleshooting guidance covers permissions and connection requirements.

7. Check whether the host or Realm is available
For a world hosted by another player, confirm that the host is online and the world is open. For Realms, check that the Realm is active. A problem limited to one host or Realm points to a different part of the connection path than a problem affecting all multiplayer invitations. Minecraft provides separate Realm connection troubleshooting.
Check services and the network last
8. Check Xbox and platform service status
Look for an interruption affecting the relevant Xbox or console services before changing settings on your device. If the sign-in works but invitations fail during a service disruption, local account changes may not help. Minecraft’s multiplayer connection guidance points players to service availability checks.
Rank #3
9. Review custom network settings only if needed
Confirm that your connection is stable. If you use custom DNS or port settings, consult Minecraft’s network troubleshooting guidance before changing them. Minecraft identifies custom DNS and port configurations as possible sources of conflicts; that does not establish them as the cause of this particular account message. Avoid broad firewall changes or resetting the device as first-line responses.

- Does the problem affect only invitations, or do other Microsoft-connected features fail too?
- Does it happen in one world or with one host, or across multiplayer sessions?
- Are Minecraft and the host’s game up to date, and do the account permissions and world settings allow multiplayer?
- Is there a service interruption or a custom network configuration in play?
If the checks do not resolve it, contact Minecraft Support with your platform, game version, whether main-menu sign-in works, whether other connected features are affected, and any displayed error code. If you are locked out of the Microsoft account or need account recovery, use Minecraft’s Microsoft sign-in help resources.
A historical Mojang issue report records similar wording when inviting someone from a paused multiplayer-enabled world. It is useful context, not evidence that the same historical bug explains the message on current platforms or versions.
