There is no proven universally best Deadlock crosshair: the available sources do not establish that one setup improves aim. For a practical starting point, choose a compact reticle with clear contrast, then tune its size, spacing and motion in Settings > Game > Reticle and check it in the game.
What makes a good Deadlock crosshair?
Use a reticle that stays visible against the scenes you play in without covering too much of a target. Deadlock’s custom editor offers controls for line thickness, length, gap and opacity, along with line borders, a center dot and dot border, color, and reticle motion. Its live preview lets you compare adjustments as you make them. Deadlock Labs’ editor documents these controls; treat them as practical options, not proof that a particular configuration performs better.
- Visibility: Choose fill and border colors that contrast with the game’s environments, and adjust opacity if the reticle is too faint or too prominent.
- Center obstruction: Keep the dot and lines small enough that the reticle does not hide the point you need to track.
- Shape and spacing: Adjust line length and gap until the center is easy to read without making the reticle bulky.
- Stability: Try the reticle-motion setting and decide whether movement while firing helps or distracts you.
The editor says its preview at 1x represents real size on a 1080p screen. If you play at another resolution, use the preview as a starting reference and verify the reticle in game.
How to change your reticle
- In Deadlock, open Settings > Game > Reticle.
- Adjust the shape, size, color, opacity and motion controls. Use the live preview to see how each change affects the reticle.
- Check the result in game at your usual resolution and make further adjustments if it is hard to see or obscures too much of a target.
How to import a shared crosshair code
- Copy the code you want to try.
- Open Settings > Game > Reticle and use Paste & apply code, as described by Deadlock Labs.
- Inspect the applied reticle in the editor and in game. Shared configurations may be partial, and unspecified values may use defaults, so do not assume every displayed code captures a complete player setup; Deadlock Labs’ crosshair guide notes this limitation.
Deadlock Labs also says some heroes have themed reticles and that its codes can turn off Settings > Game > Themed hero reticles. This is third-party guidance; check the current in-game menu if the option or behavior differs.

What changed in the reticle settings?
The community-maintained Deadlock Wiki’s record for January 22, 2026 describes a settings rework that introduced a custom reticle editor with live preview. That dated record is useful context, but it is not a Valve settings manual. Because menu labels and code behavior can change, follow the current in-game interface if it differs from these instructions.
