You can change Zelda’s outfit after completing Hyrule Castle Dungeon. Most are cosmetic; Cat Clothes, Silk Pajamas, and the Dancing Outfit have practical effects. Here’s how to unlock each one, including the outfits available without amiibo.

Which outfits have gameplay effects?
The guide identifies three practical outfit effects:
- Cat Clothes and Black Cat Clothes: Let Zelda speak with cats. Cat Clothes have a side-quest route, so amiibo are not required for this effect.
- Silk Pajamas: Make hearts recover faster when Zelda rests on a bed.
- Dancing Outfit: Increases the radius of Zelda’s spin.
The guide does not report special gameplay effects for the other listed outfits.

Which outfits require amiibo?
Nintendo Life’s amiibo rewards guide identifies three outfit rewards: Blue Attire for Zelda amiibo, Red Tunic for Link amiibo, and Black Cat Clothes for Ganondorf or miscellaneous Zelda-series amiibo. The outfit guide places these rewards after the Lands of the Goddesses Main Quest. Nintendo’s amiibo instructions confirm that compatible Zelda-series amiibo can provide variant outfits, but do not specify this outfit-to-figure mapping.
Nintendo says the amiibo feature becomes available in-game, usually about one hour into gameplay. A unique reward may require scanning the same amiibo more than once. Each figure can be scanned once per day per Nintendo Account, with a maximum of three amiibo figures per day. Nintendo’s instructions cover Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED.

Can you get every outfit without amiibo?
The guide lists side quests, story progress, Mango Rush, the Stamp Rally, and Slumber Dojo challenges as outfit routes, alongside amiibo rewards. In particular, completing Questioning the Local Cats in Kakariko Village earns Cat Clothes, so you do not need amiibo to get the cat-speaking effect. The Green Tunic also has a non-amiibo route through the Slumber Dojo.

Outfit changing becomes available after you clear Hyrule Castle Dungeon. The Royal Travel Attire is received automatically after rescuing the King and completing that dungeon sequence; other outfits are earned through their listed story, activity, quest, or amiibo requirements.
