For an easier start, consider the guide-reported Sunlit Isle oil site; for a larger oil-focused build, compare separate Sakurajima locations. For ore, coal, sulfur, quartz, or other materials, choose a specialized outpost only when those resources are useful to your save. Treat published coordinates and node counts as guide-reported, not guaranteed game data, and confirm each site in your current game.
How to choose a base location
Start with the base’s job, then check whether the site can actually support it. A rich resource cluster is not useful for automation if its nodes fall outside Palbox reach, and a resource-heavy slope may leave too little practical space for buildings and workers. Guides differ on exact coordinates, and the locations have not been independently verified in-game here.
- Resource value: Identify the materials you need now, and count only the relevant nodes you can place within the base’s working area.
- Buildability: Look for usable flat ground, room for buildings, and enough unobstructed space for workers to move.
- Worker access: Keep the Palbox within reach of the nodes you intend to automate. A comparative guide notes that working Pals cannot reach resource nodes outside its radius.
- Risk: Consider nearby enemy levels, raid approach, environmental conditions, and how exposed the site is. Terrain may help or hinder defense, but a guide’s recommendation is not proof that a site is raid-proof.
- Travel and progression: Weigh the trip to the site against how soon its resources will be useful.
- Specialization: Decide whether the site should be a general hub or a dedicated resource outpost. Several guides organize locations around specific materials, supporting a multi-base approach when needs differ.
Guide-reported locations to consider
These are candidates from recent editorial and community guides, not official location guarantees. Check the current map and terrain before committing; coordinate differences can point to separate sites rather than interchangeable versions of one recommendation.
| Purpose | Guide-reported location | Reported advantage | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter-friendly oil site | Sunlit Isle, (405, -483) | PC Gamer reports six oil nodes, nearby Pals below level 10, and a site it describes as not difficult to defend (2026). | Confirm the node count, local threats, and available building area in your game. |
| Large oil-oriented build | Sakurajima, around (-645, 273) | Palworld Tools and PC Gamer describe an oil location with a large, relatively flat build area. | Check that this is the intended oil field; guides report varying Sakurajima coordinates. |
| Another Sakurajima oil plateau | Around (-537, 201) | Palworld Database describes a plateau with six oil fields (2026). | This is a separately reported site; do not treat its coordinates as another reading of (-645, 273). |
| Ore, coal, sulfur, quartz, or later-game materials | Multiple regional options | Recent guides list resource-specific locations, including ore, coal, sulfur, pure quartz, crude oil, and later-game crystals. | Choose based on the materials your save needs and verify exact coordinates, node reach, and buildable space. |
| Defensive or scenic base | Terrain-dependent sites, including Sakurajima options | Guides discuss scenic and defensive choices, with tradeoffs in terrain, space, and resources. | Assess the terrain and raid exposure yourself; no location should be assumed raid-proof. |
Keep resource nodes usable
If you want natural nodes to respawn, avoid placing buildings over their locations. A recent PC Gamer guide advises keeping ore or other resource nodes clear. Before building, inspect the intended footprint and leave the node sites unobstructed.

When a specialized base is the better choice
A single all-purpose base can be convenient, but it may force a compromise between resource access, flat construction space, worker movement, and safety. A dedicated outpost can make more sense when a particular material becomes an immediate bottleneck or when a resource-rich site is awkward as a main settlement. The guides cover ore, coal, sulfur, pure quartz, crude oil, and later-game crystals as distinct location needs; pick the resource that matters to your current progression rather than pursuing every listed site.

Check a candidate before building
- Travel to the guide-reported area and confirm the coordinates against the in-game map. Coordinates and resource details can vary among guides.
- Locate each node you plan to automate and check that it falls within the Palbox’s working radius.
- Walk the proposed base footprint. Make sure it has enough usable flat ground and does not cover nodes you want to keep available for respawning.
- Observe nearby threats and the site’s exposure before deciding whether it suits a starter settlement, outpost, or main hub.
- Only commit after confirming the site’s resources and layout in your game version; the reported counts and raid descriptions are guide claims, not official confirmations.
