There is no evidence-backed universal top eight for Monster Hunter Wilds Dual Blades: available September 2026 sources support a few endgame choices and two progression examples, but not a comparable ranking of eight distinct weapons. The practical picks below are therefore organized by role and unlock stage, not presented as measured damage rankings. For endgame elemental play, Eternal Cusp is a supported example; Guardflayers Urbastra is the database’s high-raw alternative when element is not the focus. Match your weapon’s element to the monster and your point in the game.
How to read this shortlist
The available evidence supports four distinct weapon names, not eight verified entries. Rather than inventing names or implying a damage test, this guide lists those four supported picks and four practical selection slots for choosing the right Dual Blades for your situation. The latter are roles, not additional weapon names.

Current endgame build examples below are based on third-party pages updated in September 2026 and marked Ver. 1.042; some are gated at HR 100+. That is a dated snapshot, not a guarantee of the live balance. Check the current game version and relevant update notes before committing to an endgame build.
Supported weapon picks
| Pick | Best suited to | What the evidence supports | Access or caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eternal Cusp | Element-focused endgame builds | Used in the Ver. 1.042 Weakness Exploit example and in both a fire matchup build and a defensive uptime build. This makes it a supported endgame build weapon, not a proven best choice for every monster. | The cited examples are HR 100+ builds. For a different elemental matchup, the fire build advises changing the weapon and elemental jewels. |
| Guardflayers Urbastra | Cases where raw attack is the priority and element does not matter | mhwildsbuild.com describes this R8 weapon as its highest-raw Dual Blades option. | A database characterization, not a universal damage ranking; matchup performance is not established. |
| Quematrice Silexes III | Early progression | Named by a progression guide as an HR 10 example. | The guide gives it as a progression pick, not a current endgame contender. |
| Twin Flames I | Midgame progression | Named by the same guide for HR 20–39. | Its inclusion illustrates stage-specific choice; it is not directly comparable to HR 100+ build packages. |
Four useful roles for choosing your next pair
These are selection criteria, not extra named weapons. Use them to identify what the next weapon needs to do, then verify its name, element, and current stats in-game or in a current weapon database.

#1 Best Overall
- Wild New Adventure – Monster Hunter Wilds follows the story of a special Research Commission investigating the Forbidden Lands. Fully voiced for the first time in the series, the hunter is joined in their journey by a colorful cast of characters, including a Palico partner, Guild-appointed Handler Alma, trusty smithy Gemma, and the mysterious child Nata. Together, the team ventures into an unexplored new frontier where surprises await around every corner.
- A Living World – The Forbidden Lands spans multiple biomes with dynamic identities, such as the Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest, where the ecosystems shift between vibrant seasons brimming with life, and unforgiving climates where monsters fight over limited resources. Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
1. Element matched to the hunt
Dual Blades builds commonly emphasize elemental damage, but the useful element depends on the target. The Gog Scorcher example is specifically a fire setup for soft skin with hitzone value 45 or higher. Its guide recommends switching the weapon element and elemental jewels for another elemental matchup; do not treat that fire configuration as a general-purpose answer.
2. Raw-oriented alternative
If element is not relevant to your setup or target, the database’s raw-focused example is Guardflayers Urbastra. The source does not establish that raw wins over elemental damage across matchups, so use it as a distinct build direction rather than a blanket upgrade.
Rank #2
- Hunt giant nature-infused bests – Survive their attacks, learn from their behaviors, and use your Karakuri and your weapons in combination to cut these creatures down to size.
- Craft your hunting grounds – You are the only one in Azuma able to wield the Karakuri technology.
- Hunt in a pack, or be a lone wolf – In WILD HEARTS you can face the Kemono alone or unite with up to two friends (or other players) to stalk and hunt your prey.
- Gear up to hunt, hunt to gear up – Create your character, then gather materials from each hunt and build an array of armor and weapons.
3. Stamina and sustained uptime
Dual Blades’ rapid attacks and Demon Mode make stamina comfort and time on target practical build considerations. The cited independent guide prioritizes stamina management, then matching element where practical, sharpness for frequent hits, and then affinity and raw. A theoretically stronger weapon can be less useful if its setup leaves you frequently disengaging to recover stamina.
4. Defensive or special-purpose setup
The Mutual Hostility build uses Eternal Cusp for a defensive uptime approach rather than the fire setup’s soft-skin matchup. Its page says Mutual Hostility II provides a 75 HP damage barrier that reactivates after 140 seconds; those figures are the build page’s description, not an independently tested result. A specialized farming or defense build should be judged by its stated encounter and survival purpose, not folded into a universal weapon tier.

Two endgame build examples—not universal weapon rankings
Fire against soft skin: Gog Scorcher
The September 27, 2026 Ver. 1.042 page presents an HR 100+ fire build using Eternal Cusp. Its named skill priorities are Weakness Exploit 5, Burst 5, Fire Attack 3, Critical Element 3, Razor Sharp 3, and Power Prolonger 3, alongside comfort skills. The stated target is soft skin / hitzone value 45+. It is a complete build package for a defined matchup, not evidence that Eternal Cusp is the best Dual Blades against every monster.
Defensive uptime: Mutual Hostility
The September 7, 2026 Ver. 1.042 build also uses Eternal Cusp, with three Gogmazios α armor pieces and a weapon roll to reach Mutual Hostility II. It prioritizes Peak Performance, Latent Power, Adrenaline Rush, and stamina-related skills. This is a different use case from the fire build: a defensive, uptime-oriented package rather than an elemental matchup recommendation.

Progression matters more than a single “best” list
A progression guide separates an HR 10 starter example, Quematrice Silexes III, from Twin Flames I for HR 20–39 and later endgame builds. That distinction matters because a hunter cannot make meaningful use of an HR 100+ armor-and-skill package while still progressing through earlier ranks. The cited progression page explicitly notes there is no single best set; pick for the materials and stage you have, then revisit the choice as your access and target change.
How many elemental Dual Blades do you need?
There is no fixed number established by the cited sources. The category spans Dragon, Fire, Ice, Thunder, and Water, as well as Blast, Paralysis, and Poison. A practical collection starts with the elements that answer the hunts you do most often; expand when a target makes another element useful and the upgrade is within reach. Do not read the category’s full range as a requirement to craft every option.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor context, Incusor’s category page lists 90 Dual Blades and displays a ×1.4 attack coefficient, true raw up to 250, affinity from −15% to 25%, and 120 white sharpness. These are values as represented on that third-party database page, not official Capcom guidance, and its displayed figures may depend on how the database represents weapon stats. The separate mhwildsbuild.com database reported 1,188 weapons in total and said its data was verified September 6, 2026 against Ver. 1.042; that is an inventory count, not a performance measure.
