To complete Aza’s companion quest in The Outer Worlds 2, recruit her at the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium on Dorado, follow her to the N-Ray Range in Golden Ridge, retrieve the N-Ray Scanner, and defeat Hierarch Ziegler. The walkthrough below covers the route and the choices the available guide confirms.
Find and recruit Aza
During your trip through Dorado, enter the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium. Glorious Dawn enemies occupy the building; the walkthrough says you can deal with them through stealth, persuasion, or combat. Go upstairs and open the barred room to find Aza.
Ask her about the Glorious Dawn and its focus on rifts. When she mentions unfinished business at the N-Ray Range, invite her to accompany you. Accepting starts The Dawn of a Glorious Betrayal. Patch Crazy’s quest guide provides the recruitment sequence.
Reach the N-Ray Range
The N-Ray Range is in Golden Ridge, also on Dorado. Cross the bridge and fight the Dawn Agitator, Dawn Provocateur, and Dawn Firestarter. Then enter the side room on the right and use the hatch at the back to descend into the facility.

Work through the first rooms
In the first corridor, look for a storage room with a hatch in its back wall. The next area has two groups of four levers. A warning says activating three will open the main door, but the walkthrough says the required device is not available yet. Continue exploring rather than trying to force the door at this point.
Find Exemplar Foxworth and take the vent route
In a medical room, you’ll find the injured Exemplar Foxworth. You can reassure Foxworth; if you have a Trauma Kit, the guide says you can save their life and gain reputation with the Order of the Ascendant. Foxworth warns that some attackers can turn invisible and points you to a vent behind a medical screen.
Crawl through the vent and watch for electrified floor sections. The guide does not document a specific timing or bypass method, so proceed cautiously rather than relying on an unverified route.
Collect and use the scanner
After exiting the vent, drop down and open the shortcut door. Continue to the room containing the N-Ray Scanner. While active, it reveals invisible enemies, traps, and wires through walls, and provides a minor critical-hit bonus.

Equip the scanner and scan the next area to find and kill two invisible Dawn enemies. The walkthrough places the scanner after the vent route and does not describe an alternate way to obtain it if you pass the room.
Track down Hierarch Ziegler
Continue out of the facility toward the rift on the cliff. Clear the patrolling Dawn enemies, climb the adjacent tower, and confront Hierarch Ziegler.
Complete the quest
Ziegler becomes hostile regardless of your dialogue, so the walkthrough says you must kill him to finish the quest. After the fight, Aza learns that an official kill order was issued against her. She is shaken but remains with you.
The walkthrough’s extracted reward text does not clearly identify the completion reward, so no item name can be confirmed here. It also notes an additional later dialogue option if you let Aza torture Victor Clemens and have Speech 5; it does not establish how the Victor decision affects the main quest outcome.

- It does not give a complete lever solution or alternate route through the facility.
- It does not document difficulty-based or version-specific changes.
- It does not provide a verified way to spare Ziegler; its described ending requires killing him.
