Are Black Ops 6 guns still among Warzone’s best?
That depends on the live weapon roster and balance in your Warzone build. Weapons and their relative strength change with seasonal updates, so a Black Ops 6 label alone is not enough to establish that a gun is available or competitive now. Activision’s Season 06 2026 Warzone patch notes document current changes, but do not rank all Black Ops 6-origin weapons or compare their performance in a comprehensive dataset.

The notes say the update aimed to shake up the AR and SMG meta by reducing some of the strongest performers and giving lesser-used choices more room to compete. That is a statement of developer intent, not a measured verdict on which gun is best for a particular player.
What the latest official notes say
AN-94: reduced damage and range
In the Season 06 2026 Warzone notes, Activision says the AN-94 had a strong run at the top of the meta. Its maximum damage was reduced from 41 to 38, and its maximum damage range changed from 0–45 m to 0–38 m. The notes also report reductions to medium-range damage and range, describing the adjustment as bringing it back in line with the AR category. These are patch-specific balance values, not a full comparison with other rifles.

VMP and TR51 Para: newer competition
The same update adds the VMP SMG and TR51 Para AR. Activision describes the VMP as a full-auto weapon with fast handling and fire rate, reliable damage and accuracy, and light damage falloff at range. The TR51 Para is described as a semi-automatic AR with high damage and manageable range control, with an option to configure it for full-auto fire. Those official descriptions establish their stated characteristics, not that either is objectively superior to a BO6 gun.
How to choose a BO6 weapon if it is available
Use the weapon’s job in your loadout as the first filter rather than looking for a universal winner. Activision’s Black Ops 6 Gunsmith overview explains that builds and weapon stats can be inspected across modes, including Warzone. Treat role-based selection as a practical comparison framework, not an official tier list.

- Close-range: Prioritize handling and control at the distances where you expect to fight; an attachment that improves one quality may come at a cost elsewhere.
- Flexible mid-range: Compare recoil, damage and range behavior, and whether the build remains manageable while tracking a moving target.
- Long-range: Inspect recoil and bullet velocity alongside damage and range behavior. A build that is difficult to control can undermine its theoretical reach.
In Gunsmith, compare the available statistics and attachment trade-offs for the specific build you have equipped. If the gun is absent from the live Warzone loadout menu, it cannot serve as a current loadout recommendation, regardless of its past reputation.

Official patch notes are useful for confirming a documented balance change and Activision’s explanation for it. They are not a substitute for a current, comprehensive ranking: the available sources do not provide a full list of BO6-origin guns in Warzone, a pick-rate table, or comparative time-to-kill data. The 2025 BO6-era Warzone notes are historical context, while the 2024 Gunsmith article explains build mechanics rather than present-day weapon strength.
