Build Chord as a support for a damage dealer whose kit benefits from Highlights. Her key job is to enable an ally’s Highlight, strengthen its damage, and help the gauge refill; arrange the turn order so she can act immediately before your main damage dealer when possible. The precise skill names and build thresholds vary across guides and regional versions, so check them against your game client.
What Chord does and who she supports
Ayaka Sakai, whose codename is Chord, is a Costar-focused support associated with the Persona Calliope. The official Persona 5: The Phantom X SEA announcement says she can instantly activate an ally’s Highlight without waiting for its gauge or cooldown, increase that Highlight’s damage, and accelerate gauge fill. Its advice is to pair her with allies who have powerful Highlights. That makes her a better fit for a Highlight-reliant damage dealer than for a unit whose damage plan gains little from more frequent or stronger Highlights.
These are the effects described by the official SEA announcement dated February 6, 2026; they should not be read as a guarantee that every team or game mode benefits equally. Read the official announcement.
Skill priority
Build guides do not use a single consistent naming and priority scheme. Prydwen lists the sequence as Skill 3, Skill 2, Thief Tactics, then Skill 1. Game8 instead displays Catchy Hook, Unison Notes, Thief Tactics, then Distortion. Because skill labels and their mapping may differ by translation or version, follow one nomenclature consistently and confirm the names in your live client rather than combining the lists into a supposedly universal sequence.

Prydwen’s Ayaka Sakai guide is undated. Game8’s Chord build page lists an update date of February 13, 2026.
Stats and turn order
Chord’s actions are most useful when they land before the primary damage dealer’s turn. Prydwen recommends placing her third, immediately ahead of that dealer, and gives approximately 105–106 Speed as a reference target. This is guide advice, not an official breakpoint; tune the order to your party and the current client.
For build stats, Prydwen identifies HP Recovery as useful for her healing and HP as an accessible way to cap skill effects. It recommends considering Attack if the relevant in-battle Attack threshold is not met. The guide cites 5,083+ Attack in battle as the point for that condition; treat this as a guide-specific threshold, not an official game requirement, and verify it against your version.
Best weapon for Chord
| Weapon | What the cited source says | How to think about it |
|---|---|---|
| Superstar (5-star) | The official SEA announcement identifies it as Ayaka’s exclusive weapon. It fills the Highlight gauge at battle start and increases Costar Attack. | Its listed effects directly support Chord’s Highlight-support role. It is a premium in-game option, not a requirement. |
| Rock ’n’ Roller (4-star) | Game8 lists an Attack increase after Catchy Hook. | A lower-rarity alternative; the cited sources do not establish that it matches Superstar’s overall value. |
Both names refer to digital game weapons, not physical guitar products. The official Superstar details are in the SEA announcement; Rock ’n’ Roller is listed by Game8.

Team fit and investment
Choose the main damage dealer first, then ask whether that character makes meaningful use of Highlights. Prydwen gives Joker + Chord + Leon + Wind as an example and notes that more consistent Highlight access can benefit Joker’s extra-action setup. Treat this as a guide example, not a universal best team: the right companions depend on your damage dealer and game version.
Prydwen also identifies Awareness 1, 4, and 6 as meaningful investment breakpoints, associating them with Chord’s Skill 2 opening, other allies’ Highlight cooldowns, and her Skill 3 rotation. These are guide-specific recommendations, not a reason to pursue a particular Awareness level without checking its effect and cost in your current regional client.

Version and availability notes
The official ability and weapon details cited here come from the SEA site and its February 6, 2026 announcement. Game8’s page says it was updated February 13, 2026. A separate GAMEX page identifies itself as a Japan Version 4.8 guide updated September 5, 2026, but its detailed recommendations are not used here to replace the other guides. Regional skill translations, balance, equipment effects, and event availability can differ; an earlier announcement does not establish that Ayaka or Superstar is currently available on a banner.
