Which game suits your group?
For two people: It Takes Two
Choose this when the priority is a co-op campaign designed around playing together. Hazelight’s official Steam description says players can choose “couch or online co-op with split-screen play,” making the same-PC option explicit rather than something inferred from a general multiplayer label. Read the Steam listing.
For a room group: Overcooked
Overcooked is the clearest pick here when more than two people want to cooperate on one PC. Steam calls it a chaotic couch co-op cooking game for one to four players and lists both local co-op and local multiplayer. Check its Steam listing for the current PC edition details.
For an RPG: Baldur’s Gate 3
Pick Baldur’s Gate 3 if you want an RPG and your device supports the local mode. Larian’s support page confirms split-screen on PC, but does not give the local player count in the cited FAQ. The same page explicitly rules out split-screen on Steam Deck, so do not assume the PC feature carries over to that handheld. Check Larian’s multiplayer FAQ.

How to confirm a game is genuinely local
“Co-op” by itself does not establish that two people can play on one computer. Store listings may describe online multiplayer separately from couch, local, shared-screen, or split-screen play. Check the exact PC edition’s feature labels before buying or installing.
- Open the current store page for the PC edition. Look specifically for local co-op, local multiplayer, shared-screen, or split-screen wording.
- Confirm the group size. Use an official player count when one is stated; do not infer a local count from an online multiplayer description.
- Check the screen arrangement. Shared-screen and split-screen are different descriptions, and should not be treated as interchangeable.
- Check input and device compatibility. A game controller can be useful for couch play, but support depends on both the game and the PC’s available connection options. Confirm those details for your setup.
