Those habits make the opening fights easier to read without spoiling the story or locking you into one play style.
Do you have any tips for a beginner before I get started?
Think of each fight as a short exchange: observe the windup, attack briefly, then keep enough stamina to dodge the next committed hit. Your attacks and dodges compete for the same practical stamina budget, so a long combo can leave you unable to respond. If the exchange gets confusing, stop pressing forward, reposition, and watch for the next opening.

Focus is a chance to punish, not a command to attack immediately. Build it through controlled combat, then spend it when a dodge, stagger, spell, or clear recovery leaves the opponent exposed. A charged attack that misses because the enemy moved—or because it pushed through your attack—is useful feedback about timing. It does not, by itself, mean your build is wrong.
What should I do first in Black Myth: Wukong?
- Activate each Keeper’s Shrine you find. Treat it as a route anchor: learn how to reach the next objective and notice which enemies repeatedly cost you healing.
- Practice the approach as well as the boss. If you arrive at a boss with most of your healing already spent, vary or practice the route before deciding that the boss is the only problem.
- Use a short, repeatable attack pattern. In ordinary fights, watch for windups and recovery instead of mashing. Try a brief light-attack string, preserve stamina for a dodge, and reset when you lose track of the exchange.
- Give spells a job. An early Immobilize cast can create a planned punish or a moment to heal. Using it as a panic response may waste its value; consider the mana and cooldown before casting.
- Read Spark descriptions before spending upgrades. Favor upgrades that address a problem you actually encounter, such as stamina comfort, survival, or reliable staff use. There is no established universally best beginner allocation.
- Use healing deliberately. Avoid spending every sip on minor damage, but do not wait until one incoming hit would end the attempt. Medicine is most useful when you understand the boss pattern and can reach the point where you need it.
How should I choose a beginner build?
Start with the stance and staff use you can execute consistently. Broadly useful upgrades can support that foundation, but the right next choice depends on what is repeatedly going wrong. A missed charged attack, for example, may call for better timing; repeated exhaustion may point to stamina management; dying before you can learn a boss may call for a survival adjustment.

After a failed attempt, name the main cause: stamina, Focus, mana, healing, medicine, route attrition, or attention. Change one habit or setup variable for the next try. That makes each attempt more informative than switching several things at once. The available guides are launch-era editorial material, so treat exact skill allocations and patch-sensitive item or boss details cautiously.
How should I handle optional exploration?
Side paths and optional fights can offer useful encounters, but you do not have to clear everything before moving forward. Mark paths or elites you want to revisit, then decide whether you prefer to explore now or keep a first playthrough blind. The value of optional content depends on how much you want its rewards and practice versus how much you want to avoid spoilers.

Optional Chapter 1 checklist (light spoilers)
- Consider seeking optional Yaoguai Chiefs for Spirit abilities.
