The EA app supports Windows 11, but “not working” can mean several different things: the app will not open, sign-in or connection fails, an install or download stalls, or one game will not launch. Start with the symptom. If the app itself will not open, use Windows’ built-in EA App Recovery shortcut to clear its cache; for other problems, use the fix that matches the error or game behavior.
1. Identify what is failing
Before changing anything, determine whether the problem is the EA app, your connection or account, a game download or installation, or a single game that will not load. EA’s troubleshooting guidance separates these cases because they call for different fixes. If an error code appears, look up that specific code rather than treating every failure as an app-launch problem. EA’s error-code and launch-issue guide lists remedies for named errors.
- The app will not open: try clearing its cache through App Recovery.
- Sign-in, connection, download, or installation trouble: check EA service status and your connection, then follow the displayed error or symptom.
- The app opens but one game will not launch: repair that game and, if needed, test with the in-game overlay off.
2. Clear the EA app cache if it will not open
You do not need to open the EA app to use this recovery option. EA’s instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Open Start.
- Select All Apps.
- Expand the EA folder.
- Open App Recovery.
- Select Clear Cache and follow any prompts shown.
EA says clearing the cache can help when the app is stuck offline or will not update, and when downloads or updates are stuck at a percentage or show “Waiting for download.” It cannot resolve an EA service outage. See EA’s Windows cache-clearing instructions for the recovery steps.

3. Check EA services and your connection
If the issue involves sign-in, connectivity, downloads, or installation, check whether EA services are experiencing an outage before changing app files. Then troubleshoot your internet connection. EA lists Wi-Fi and a wired Ethernet connection as options for download and installation troubleshooting; Ethernet may help with a connection problem, but it is not a general fix for cache, installer, account, or game-file issues. Start with EA’s download, installation, and game-loading guidance.
4. Match installation errors to their specific fixes
Installation errors can have different causes, so use the code shown on your screen. EA recommends restarting the PC, confirming that the internet connection is stable, and downloading a fresh installer from EA.com for several installation errors. Some codes have more specific remedies:

- INST-14-1603: EA says missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables may be the cause; install the missing components and restart the PC.
- INST-14-1601: EA identifies a Windows Installer Service issue and directs users to Microsoft Support.
- EC:109: EA says app files may be corrupted or missing and advises deleting and downloading the app again from EA.com.
Check the current instructions for your exact code in EA’s error-code guide. A reinstall is not the right answer for every app problem.
5. Repair a game that will not launch
If the EA app opens but a particular game does not load, try repairing the game from the app’s Library. EA also recommends testing whether the in-game overlay is interfering with a game that will not launch; the overlay can sometimes contribute to crashes.

- Open the EA app and go to Library.
- Choose the affected game and use its available Repair option.
- If the game still will not launch, turn off the in-game overlay and test again.
- Turn the overlay back on once the issue is resolved if you want its features, such as game invites and messages.
