As of StatusPRO’s February 17, 2026 update, the game remained available on Meta and Google, while support for Sony and Steam was paused during a platform-strategy reassessment.
What changed in NFL PRO ERA 2025?
On August 28, 2024, the NFL, NFLPA and StatusPRO announced a new direction for NFL PRO ERA. The headline gameplay change was a playable defensive role: alongside quarterback play, users could take the field as a linebacker. The announcement also framed the 2025 edition as a live-service product that would evolve over time.
The original game launched in 2022 as an officially licensed NFL VR football game, with full seasons for any of the league’s 32 teams, plus multiplayer, practice and mini-games. Meta’s launch announcement named Quest 2 as the launch platform. Meta’s September 15, 2022 launch post describes that original scope.

What can you do on defense?
The new defensive role centers on linebacker actions: rushing the quarterback, making tackles, recording sacks and intercepting passes. The announcement also said players could rush with the quarterback on offense, expanding the ways a play could unfold beyond standing in the pocket.

What does the live-service direction include?
The 2024 announcement described NFL PRO ERA 2025 as a game intended to keep changing, not just a new annual version. Existing owners of the first two versions were to receive an update with customizations, free-play modes and mini-games. The planned feature set also included smarter AI teammates and opponents, revised team and player formations, a new interface, custom gear, stadiums and hairstyles.

The announcement also outlined offensive-versus-defensive head-to-head multiplayer for the winter after the August 2024 announcement. That was a roadmap target at the time, not evidence that the mode is currently available.
Is NFL PRO ERA still supported on Meta Quest?
In a February 17, 2026 community update, StatusPRO said NFL PRO ERA would remain available on Meta and Google. The company said support for Sony and Steam would be paused as it reassessed its platform strategy. The update also said development had shifted toward building sustainable infrastructure and that major seasonal updates had not appeared while that work was underway. These are StatusPRO’s dated statements; platform availability and update plans can change.

StatusPRO connected the platform shift to expanded NFL rights supporting gaming, media and training. Its update is the clearest dated statement here about current platform support: StatusPRO’s February 17, 2026 community update.

The defining change was the addition of linebacker defense to a game originally known for quarterback-focused VR play. The broader live-service plan promised more customization, AI and modes, but its announced features and winter multiplayer target should not be confused with confirmation of what is available now. For current platform status, the relevant dated source is StatusPRO’s February 2026 update.
