Greater Essence is an enemy drop used to enhance gear at the Enhancer NPC. It is listed across several regions in The Forge, so the right farming route depends on which areas you can reach and how quickly you can defeat their enemies. The drop rates below come from unofficial game-reference sources, not an official drop table.
Where Greater Essence drops
Reference pages list Greater Essence on enemies in Forgotten Kingdom, Frostspire Expanse, The Peak, Raven Cave and Crimson Sakura Isles. The rates below are per kill as listed by those sources; they do not establish which route yields the most essence per hour.

Which route should you farm?
Choose based on your progression and the enemies you can defeat efficiently, not just the largest chance printed in a table. A 1/3 drop chance per Yeti kill is not automatically better than a lower chance against enemies you can clear faster or encounter more often.
- If you are in Forgotten Kingdom: the Ruined Cave has documented Deathaxe Skeleton and elite skeleton drops, with a route description for reaching them.
- If you have access to later areas: check the listed Prismarine Spider, Yeti, Demonic Spider and Oni options against your damage, survivability and available spawns.
- For any route: factor in enemy health, respawn availability, travel time and how safely you can maintain a steady kill rate.
The cited references do not report measured Greater Essence per hour or tested comparisons between routes. Their rates are unofficial listings and may change as the game is updated; verify current enemy names and drops in-game.

How to reach the documented Forgotten Kingdom farm
All Things How’s guide, updated December 12, 2025, describes a Ruined Cave route. Because its directions are older than references covering newer areas, use them as a route description rather than a guarantee that the current cave layout, access requirements or drop rates are unchanged.
- Reach Forgotten Kingdom and enter the Ruined Cave.
- For Deathaxe Skeletons, travel east through the cave to Sunken Cells. The guide lists a 1/8 Greater Essence chance for these enemies.
- For the listed 1/6 targets, follow the right-hand wall in the cave past the “DANGER” sign toward Amber.
- After clearing two Basalt Veins, look for a hole southwest of Amber to reach Volcanic Depths, where the guide places Elite Rogue Skeletons and Elite Deathaxe Skeletons.
Check the cave and drops in-game before committing to a long farming session; newer updates may have changed the route or its requirements.
