Xbox described Modern Warfare II as including a globe-trotting single-player Campaign, Multiplayer, and cooperative Special Ops. Those three modes are useful context when weighing a subscription against a purchase: the right option depends on whether you want to play this title and its available content over a short period or keep access through a purchase. What happened after the 2022 launch?
Activision announced that Warzone 2.0 and Season One would arrive on November 16, 2022, with Al Mazrah as the new map and DMZ among the new modes. These were 2022 plans, not a description of current service availability. Activision reported that Modern Warfare II exceeded $1 billion in worldwide sell-through in its first 10 days. The company also reported more than 200 million hours played and more than 1 billion matches in that same period. These are company-reported figures, not independent measurements; Activision said sell-through figures used partner reporting and internal estimates, while franchise records relied on internal company reporting.
