These nine games are candidates to check in your Xbox Game Pass catalog—not a confirmed list of titles available today. Game Pass availability changes by date, region, plan, and platform. Before downloading, look up each title in the Microsoft Store on your Xbox or the Xbox app on PC while signed into the account you plan to use, and confirm its listing offers Install under your plan.
“Soulslike” is an informal label, not a strict genre definition. The games below range from deliberate melee action to fast deflection combat and ranged co-op; some are better described as soulslike-adjacent action RPGs. Use the play-style notes to find a promising fit, then verify availability for your own setup.
How to check whether a game is on your Game Pass plan
- Open the Microsoft Store on your Xbox, or the Xbox app on PC, and sign in to the account tied to your subscription.
- Search for the exact game title.
- Check that the listing offers Install under your plan. Availability can vary by region, platform, plan, and time, so an old announcement or a listing for another platform is not enough to confirm access.
Xbox directs players to its current Game Pass catalog and notes that catalog titles and availability vary. Check immediately before you start; the list below is a set of recommendations to investigate, not a live catalog audit for a particular country, tier, or device.
Which soulslike should you try first?
There is no universal easiest pick: the right starting point depends on whether you find deliberate combat, build experimentation, precise deflections, or co-op more approachable. These are play-style recommendations, not difficulty rankings based on firsthand testing.

The play-style descriptions and shortlist reflect editorial characterizations rather than a current availability check or an independent review. “Soulslike” can cover games with stamina- or timing-based combat, risky failure and recovery, meaningful builds, or progression built around learning enemy patterns; individual titles emphasize different parts of that mix.
What the dated Game Pass announcements do—and do not—confirm
Older Xbox announcements can help explain why a title appears on a Game Pass shortlist, but they do not establish that it remains available to you now.

- Xbox Wire reported on June 8, 2026 that Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty had joined Game Pass Ultimate. That dated notice does not confirm access in every country, on every platform, or under every plan today.
- Xbox Wire announced in September 2025 that Nine Sols was coming to Game Pass Standard on Xbox Series X|S. It is historical evidence of an announced addition, not proof of current catalog status.
- Xbox Wire announced in May 2024 that Lords of the Fallen was coming to Game Pass on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. That notice likewise does not confirm present availability.
Choosing between solo-focused combat and co-op
If you want a traditional melee-action feel, start by checking Mortal Shell, Thymesia, Code Vein, or Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and choose based on whether you prefer deliberate pacing, build flexibility, or deflection timing. If ranged combat and playing with others matter more, the Remnant games are the shortlist’s stronger co-op-oriented options and are best treated as soulslike-adjacent rather than strict genre examples. Confirm each game’s multiplayer options and current platform availability in its Store listing before planning a session with friends.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why these games count as soulslikes
There is no formal genre rulebook, so a useful shortlist looks at shared design traits rather than a single required feature. Soulslike games often make combat depend on stamina management or careful timing, attach a cost or recovery challenge to defeat, offer consequential build choices, and ask players to learn enemy or boss patterns. A game can share some of those traits without being a strict example; the ranged, co-op-oriented Remnant titles illustrate why the label is sometimes applied broadly.
