If you want to change your current Raider’s Skill Tree allocation, use the in-game Skill Tree reset option—not an Expedition. The official Cold Snap 1.7.0 patch notes set the respec cost at 2,000 Coins per skill point. An Expedition is a much broader, voluntary character reset that removes substantial character-bound progress.
Reset Skill Tree points without starting an Expedition
Open the Skill Tree in-game and use its reset option to reassign your current Raider’s allocated points. The Cold Snap 1.7.0 patch notes, dated December 16, 2025, state that a Skill Tree reset costs 2,000 Coins per skill point. The notes establish the feature and price; they do not make an Expedition a requirement. See the official Cold Snap 1.7.0 patch notes.
Budget for the number of points you are resetting: the published cost is per point, not a single flat fee. Use this option when your goal is simply to change your build.
What an Expedition resets
An Expedition is a voluntary reset of character progression through the Expedition Project. It is not a narrow Skill Tree respec. The official Expedition overview lists levels, skills, items and inventory, workshop progress, and crafting capabilities among the things lost. Cosmetics, awards, and achievements are among the things retained.
#1 Best Overall
- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
In short, an Expedition can give you a fresh progression path, but it removes far more than allocated Skill Tree points. Consider its scope before committing; do not depart solely to change your current skill allocation.
Skill Tree reset and Expedition compared
| Choice | What it does | Cost or reward | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Skill Tree reset | Resets Skill Tree allocation for your current Raider. | 2,000 Coins per skill point, according to the Cold Snap 1.7.0 patch notes. | The patch notes introduced the in-game option; they do not state that it requires an Expedition. |
| Expedition | Resets broader character-bound progression, including skills and other progress listed in the official overview. | Expedition Skill Point rewards and catch-up rules vary by Expedition window. | Requires the announced Expedition process and its window-specific requirements. The fifth window closed September 29, 2026. |
Expedition Skill Point rewards changed by window
Expedition rewards are separate from the 2,000-Coin Skill Tree respec price. The rules below describe specific historical windows; they are not a standing threshold to assume for a future Expedition.
Rank #2
- First Expedition: The announcement said Stash plus Coins value could earn up to five Skill Points for the new Raider, at one million Coins of value per point. See the first Expedition announcement.
- Second Expedition: The full five-point Stash-value target was lowered to three million Coins. Catch-up for missed first-Expedition points cost 300,000 Stash value per missing point; Coins first counted toward that Expedition’s own points. See the second Expedition announcement.
- Third Expedition: For that window, earning its five points shifted from Stash value to a damage challenge, with catch-up for missed points described in the announcement. See the third Expedition announcement.
- Fifth Expedition: The announcement capped cumulative bonus Expedition Skill Points at 15. Catch-up for previously missed points was available starting with a player’s second Expedition until the cap was reached. See the fifth Expedition announcement.
Because reward and catch-up rules have changed between windows, check the announcement for the specific Expedition rather than carrying an older Stash or damage requirement forward.

The fifth Expedition window ran from September 8 through September 29, 2026. The official store update repeated the September 29 deadline and said there would be no Last Call; completing the Caravan alone did not count as signing up. The window is closed. See the official Expedition 5 store update.

In its August 21, 2026 announcement, Embark said the fifth Expedition would be the last until early 2027 while the team worked on major improvements. That is the latest announced plan reflected here, not a confirmed departure date or guarantee of when a new window will open. Check a current official announcement or the in-game Expedition screen before planning around one.
Quest handling also changed. Live Update 1.45.0, dated September 8, 2026, made quest reset on Expedition departure optional rather than automatic: players can choose whether to reset quests. See the Live Update 1.45.0 notes.

Which reset should you choose?
- Changing your build on the current Raider: Use the Skill Tree reset and account for its 2,000-Coin-per-point price.
- Starting character progression over: Consider an Expedition only after reviewing what it removes, what it preserves, and the requirements for the active window.
- Seeking Expedition bonus Skill Points: Follow the rules announced for that particular window; historical thresholds are not a reliable guide to future rewards.
