It brought planet-based gravity and orbital slingshots into Angry Birds 2 from October 24 to November 21, 2025, according to the announced schedule. The event has ended; Rovio later said it was exploring ways to bring Space back, but did not confirm a return date.
What was the Angry Birds 2 Space event?
Rovio introduced the Space event as part of Angry Birds 2’s tenth-anniversary celebrations. It brought back the series’ space theme in a format built for Angry Birds 2, with new Space-themed World Map levels and appearances in several game modes. Rovio described it as an adaptation rather than a faithful recreation of the original standalone Angry Birds Space: “some aspects of the gameplay may differ,” the publisher said in its Flock Forward 5 preview.

The event also included rotating activity, an in-game calendar, themed hats and rewards. Rovio previewed a Cosmic Hat Set that players could upgrade through Treasure Pass milestones or Space World Map levels, along with permanent Space-related avatars on the free and paid Treasure Pass tracks. Returning Hat Shop events and limited in-game rewards were also announced.
How did the Space gravity work?
Rovio said planets exerted their own gravity, pulling birds and objects around them. Players were meant to slingshot birds along orbital paths, work around Gravity Zones and attack pig fortresses. The Space World Map levels introduced the mechanic, with Space content also planned for modes such as Arena in different weeks.

Those details describe Rovio’s intended event mechanics, not an independent hands-on assessment. The publisher cautioned that the gameplay could differ from the original Angry Birds Space because the event was designed around Angry Birds 2.
When did the event run?
Rovio and SEGA announced an event period of October 24–November 21, 2025. SEGA’s Japanese-language notice, dated October 27, said the anniversary event was underway on iOS and Android. Rovio’s later recap, however, says the event concluded on November 20. The official sources do not explain the one-day difference, so an exact final availability time or time zone cannot be established.

During the event, Rovio Support said players needed to reach Saga Level 10, then tap the Space button on the main screen or Saga map to access it. Those were instructions for the 2025 event, not a way to unlock it now.
What happened to the community goal?
Rovio tied a community feather-collection goal to sending Red into space in real life. In its event recap, the company said Red was sent to space as part of the event’s conclusion. That is Rovio’s account of the promotion; the cited event materials do not establish further details about the flight.

Is Angry Birds Space coming back?
The 2025 event is over. In its recap, Rovio said it was “exploring ways to bring Space back to the game in a number of different ways in the future.” That wording signals a possibility, not a confirmed rerun or schedule. The general Angry Birds 2 page describes limited-time events but does not establish that Space is currently active.

Why did Rovio bring Space back?
The event marked Angry Birds 2’s tenth anniversary and revisited a familiar part of the franchise. SEGA said the Angry Birds franchise had passed more than 5 billion cumulative downloads by 2022; that is a franchise-wide figure, not a count of Angry Birds 2 downloads or participation in the Space event.
