Prepare for poison in Skoffa Cave
Aratra is the fifth main boss in the reported boss order and is fought in Skoffa Cave. Poison buildup is a key threat, so consider changing your equipment if status effects are ending attempts.

Start with the abdomen if venom is the problem
PCGamesN recommends targeting the abdomen before the claws. The cited boss guide reports that breaking the abdomen disables venom attacks, making it a sensible first target when poison is the main danger.
Then work on the legs or claws
After the abdomen, focus on the legs or claws as the situation calls for. The boss guide reports that breaking Aratra’s legs limits its fang attacks. Prioritize the part tied to the attacks you most need to suppress.

Wait out delayed Burst Attacks
Aratra’s Burst Attacks can have long delays. Watch the attack tell and wait for the strike instead of guarding, countering, or dodging too early. An early response can spend stamina without stopping the attack and leave you exposed.
Once the attack resolves, use its recovery window to counter. Stamina also fuels attacks, guarding, and dodging, so avoid spending it all on a premature reaction.

Interrupt the retreat with your javelin
When Aratra climbs toward the cave wall, throw your javelin at its back. The boss guide says this can knock the spider down, interrupt its retreat, and deal damage. It also reports that Aratra’s parts regenerate when it retreats, so stopping the withdrawal can help preserve progress on the current part-break cycle.
Adjust your build if the fight stalls
If the same approach is not working, PC Gamer’s general Khazan advice is to experiment with another weapon or build; skill respecs are available. Treat that as a broader way to adapt your character, not as evidence of a special Aratra weakness.
