Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 released on April 15, 2025. It is live, not still “coming soon.” Larian called it the game’s final major content patch; minor bug fixes may still follow.
What Patch 8 added
Patch 8 is a free update to Baldur’s Gate 3, not a separately purchased expansion. Its headline additions are cross-play, Photo Mode, and 12 new subclasses—one for each class—alongside other platform and quality-of-life updates.
Cross-play and cross-platform progression
Multiplayer cross-play and cross-platform progression support PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. Players connect through Larian Network lobbies. Photo Mode
Photo Mode lets players pose and reposition their party, adjust the camera and scene, and decorate shots with more than 300 stickers, according to Larian. Camera and party repositioning are restricted during dialogue and cinematic scenes.

- Online multiplayer for up to four players - allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it

- Warlock: Hexblade
- Wizard: Bladesinging
Other changes
Larian also highlighted split-screen support on Xbox Series S, Steam Trading Cards, improvements to the modding toolkit, and a broad set of bug fixes. The official Patch 8 announcement and notes describe the full update.
Why older Patch 8 dates may say “coming soon”
Larian previewed Patch 8 in November 2024, saying it was planned for the following year and outlining cross-play, Photo Mode, and the subclasses. In January 2025, the studio discussed preparing a stress test and hoped to open it toward the end of that month. That was a test window, not the public launch date. The release announcement arrived on April 15, 2025.

It is the last major patch introducing new content, not a promise that the game will never receive another fix. Larian said it would add no further new narrative content or significant changes to storylines, Origin characters, or companions, while leaving room for minor bug fixing. The distinction matters: “final major content patch” is more precise than “no more updates.”
