To play on the new sign-in, that account must have its own entitlement or applicable subscription. A separate process can move a Bedrock world to another device, but it does not move account ownership or purchases.
What changing the sign-in does—and does not do
Minecraft lets you sign out and sign in with another Microsoft account, using platform-specific steps in its sign-out guide. This changes which account is active on the device; it does not move the original account’s license or content.
Minecraft uses Microsoft accounts for Microsoft-platform purchases and Realms subscriptions made through Minecraft, Microsoft Store, or Xbox. Purchases made through platforms such as PlayStation, Nintendo, Apple, Google Play, or Steam are governed by those platforms’ terms, so a Microsoft-account transfer claim does not apply to every platform purchase. See the Minecraft EULA for that distinction.
Can you move the game, purchases, or profile?
The reviewed Minecraft guidance does not document a way to transfer a Microsoft-platform game license, Marketplace purchases, or account-associated content to another Microsoft account. Minecraft says Microsoft-account sign-in is used to save progress and access purchases and other content; do not assume those items will follow you to a different account.

- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
For eligible ownership, Minecraft’s account guide describes Java and Bedrock as bundled for Windows. That package information is specific to Windows and should not be generalized to console or mobile editions. See the Minecraft account guide.
What to do if you only want to use another account
- Follow the sign-out steps for your platform, then sign in with the Microsoft account you want to use.
- Check whether that account owns the game or has the relevant subscription. Signing in with a different account does not give it the original account’s entitlement.
Why the Minecraft Launcher may not show Play
On Windows, Minecraft’s guidance says the game signs in with the gamertag used to purchase it through the Windows Store. If the Play button is missing, check that the correct account is signed in to both the Minecraft Launcher and Microsoft Store. The missing Play button troubleshooting guide identifies an account mismatch as a likely cause.

How to move a Bedrock world to another device
If your goal is to keep playing a world on a different device, Minecraft documents a separate device-transfer route: upload the world to a Realm, then download it on the destination device. The steps require an active Realms trial or paid subscription and up-to-date game versions. Follow the Bedrock world transfer instructions.
This method transfers a world between devices; it does not transfer the source Microsoft account, its purchases, or its profile to another account.

The old Mojang migration is not a Microsoft-account transfer
Minecraft’s Mojang-to-Microsoft account migration program ended on September 19, 2023. Minecraft’s official announcement, published May 8, 2023 and updated September 19, 2023, says, “Move concluded on September 19, 2023!” That closed program moved eligible Mojang accounts to Microsoft accounts; it was not a way to transfer ownership between two Microsoft accounts.
