Yes, you can play Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2, but not on the original Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 release is ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition, available since August 28, 2026, and the publisher labels it “Nintendo Switch 2 Only.”
Which Nintendo Switch consoles can run Elden Ring?
| Console | Can you play Elden Ring? | What the official listing says |
|---|---|---|
| Original Nintendo Switch | No supported version is listed. | Bandai Namco’s official Elden Ring product page does not identify the original Switch as a supported platform. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Yes. | ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition is listed as “Nintendo Switch™ 2 Only.” Bandai Namco announced its availability on August 28, 2026. Product page; availability announcement. |
That distinction matters when searching for or buying the game: a listing that simply says “Switch” may be ambiguous, so check that it specifically identifies Nintendo Switch 2. The official announcement describes play in both docked and handheld modes.

What is known about performance?
The official materials cited here do not specify frame rate, resolution, loading times, or graphics settings for the Switch 2 edition.
