Black Myth Wukong August 2024 update patch notes
The update’s notes list fixes for crashes, visual problems, enemy behavior, combat, quests, collection tracking, and text presentation. What changed in version 1.0.8.14860?
Crashes and visual issues
- Fixed crashes that could affect some players when FSR was enabled during startup or the prologue.
- Fixed a crash in certain areas of Webbed Hollow when NVIDIA Full Ray Tracing was enabled.
- Fixed abnormal hair stretching and optimized the hair effects for Yaoguai King Lingxuzi.
Combat and gameplay
- Fixed cases in which enemies could become stuck in motion.
- Slightly reduced the stats of Yaoguai King Captain Wise-Voice.
- Fixed a Lantern Warden attack in the Pagoda Realm that could push the player into walls.
- Fixed a player-character softlock while performing “Whirling Thrusts in Thrust Stance.” The update also fixed an issue with switching stances properly in Chapter Six.
Quests, stats, and Journal tracking
- Fixed errors in stats.
- Fixed a Daoist Mi quest icon that could remain after the quest had become impossible to complete.
- Fixed incorrect Portraits collection progress in Journals.
Text, translations, and subtitles
- Corrected Chinese text errors.
- Added or improved translations for Portraits, music titles and lyrics, Talents, Equipment, Inventory, and loading-screen tips.
- Improved subtitle layout in several languages.
When did the update arrive?
The Steam announcement was posted on August 29, 2024. In that announcement, Game Science gives August 27, 2024, at 16:00 (UTC+8) as the update time for Epic and says, “This patch will also be updated gradually on other platforms.” The Epic timestamp and the later post date are separate; the announcement does not provide a platform-by-platform schedule or completion time for the rollout.
Why does Black Myth: Wukong crash with Turkish language on PS5?
Game Science said it had identified a PS5 launch crash when the console’s system language was Turkish. Its temporary workaround was to change the PS5’s Console Language setting to English or another language. The announcement said the team was working on a fix for an upcoming patch; it does not establish whether that workaround is needed on a current build.

Did the August update nerf Captain Wise-Voice?
Yes. The notes say Captain Wise-Voice’s stats were reduced slightly. They do not specify which individual stats changed or quantify the reduction.

Steam lists 130 GB of available storage for both the minimum and recommended PC configurations. Steam marks an SSD as recommended for minimum and required for recommended.
