In Blue Prince, the Utility Closet breaker box’s V.A.C. puzzle is solved by setting its six indicator lights, from left to right, to off, blue, green, white, red, purple. The sequence below enters that pattern directly; solving it opens a hidden chamber with a lever for permanent Gemstone Cavern access.
Where to find the V.A.C. puzzle
Look for the breaker box in the Utility Closet. Its controls include six buttons labeled “V.A.C. Indicators,” alongside separate switches for the Gymnasium, Darkroom, and Garage. The solution here applies only to the six indicator lights. The Blue Prince Wiki’s Utility Closet reference says clues for the puzzle appear in the Mail Room and in an Office terminal email exchange; a later Mail Room letter adds guidance.

Enter the breaker box solution
Number the buttons 1 through 6 from left to right. Press them in this order:
- Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to turn all six lights green.
- Press 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 to make the first five lights blue and the last light off.
- Press 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1 to turn all six lights purple.
- Press 4, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, 5, 5, 5, 3, 3, 3, 1, 1 to complete the target pattern.
Before leaving the box, check that the lights read off – blue – green – white – red – purple from left to right. This button sequence is reported by the community-maintained Blue Prince Wiki; it is not presented as personal gameplay testing.

How the indicator rules work
The in-game clues explain why the buttons do more than cycle each light independently. The Blue Prince Wiki describes the behavior as follows:
- All six lights begin off. Repeatedly pressing an individual light cycles it through green, red, and off.
- Once all six are green, the next button pressed turns its light blue.
- Pressing a blue light turns it off and makes neighboring lights blue. If an adjacent light is red, that interaction makes it purple.
- When five lights are purple, you can turn the sixth purple. With all six purple, the next pressed light turns white.
Gameranx’s V.A.C. puzzle guide also describes purple as resulting from a blue-and-red interaction and corroborates the target pattern. Following the Mail Room and Office clues reveals the logic; the numbered sequence above is the direct route if you prefer to enter the answer.

What solving the puzzle unlocks
Completing the pattern opens a wall behind the breaker box and reveals a large lever. Activate it to unlock permanent access to the Gemstone Cavern. The Blue Prince Wiki and GameSpot’s breaker box walkthrough report that the reward also adds 2 gems at the start of every in-game day.

The chamber may close again on a later visit. According to the Blue Prince Wiki, enter the V.A.C. sequence again to reopen it. The large reward lever remains down once activated, so you do not need to pull it again.
