A day earlier, Gearbox acknowledged reports of PC bugs and crashes and said improving stability and performance was a priority. The notes document the fixes attempted; they do not show that every crash or performance problem was resolved.
What’s in the September 18 Borderlands 4 patch?
The update notes list stability improvements for PC alongside gameplay and loot fixes. Gearbox described crash-related work involving animation states, audio, collision checks, and GPU-related issues. The notes give no benchmark results or quantified performance gain, so they establish which areas were addressed—not how much performance changed.
- Reward Center: Fixed an issue that could prevent it from working after players claimed Gilded Glory Pack rewards.
- Talk to Zadra: Addressed a progression blocker that could occur if players exited and relaunched the game during dialogue.
- DLC warnings: Corrected incorrect “Doesn’t own DLC” warnings appearing on gear that was not DLC gear.
- Gilded Glory Pack guns: Removed the pack’s guns from standard chest loot pools.

Did the patch fix Borderlands 4 PC crashes?
The notes confirm that Gearbox made stability changes aimed at crashes connected to several systems, including animation, audio, collision checks, and GPU-related issues. They do not report crash-rate measurements, benchmarks, or a guarantee that all PC crashes were fixed. Whether a particular issue improved may depend on its cause and the player’s system.

What did Gearbox say about performance?
In a message posted on the official Borderlands account on September 17, ahead of the update, Gearbox thanked players, acknowledged reports from PC players, and said the team was reading feedback and taking action. As reported by GamesRadar+, the statement said: “We know some PC players are running into bugs and crashes. We hear you.”
Gearbox also said it was testing a field-of-view slider for consoles and investigating reported console performance concerns. The statement’s “This is our top priority” referred to the work the team described; it is an acknowledgment of ongoing efforts, not evidence that a particular issue had already been fixed. The report does not identify an individual speaker.
