Yes, at least one optional errand can be missed. Most ordinary side quests can generally be completed after the main story, but the Broken Locks errand depends on an optional objective in Breaking Even: recover Porguf’s Lockbox. The Burning Shores expansion follows the final main quest, Singularity, but that sequence alone does not establish that every base-game activity stays available.
Which side quest is missable?
PowerPyx’s guide to Horizon Forbidden West identifies Broken Locks as a missable errand. Its unlock depends on an optional objective during Breaking Even: recover Porguf’s Lockbox. If you want to make sure Broken Locks becomes available, complete that objective while doing Breaking Even. PowerPyx’s side-quest and errand guide documents this prerequisite.

Can you do the other side quests after the main story?
Most ordinary side quests can generally be completed after finishing the main story, according to the same PowerPyx guide. That is a useful rule for returning to unfinished quests, but it should not be read as a guarantee that every errand or optional interaction remains available: Broken Locks has the prerequisite above.

When does Burning Shores become available?
Burning Shores follows the base game’s final main quest, Singularity. The official Horizon games page for New Zealand says that after Singularity, Sylens contacts Aloy and the expansion quest becomes active. This describes the expansion’s story sequence; it does not confirm whether starting or completing the DLC affects the availability of every base-game side quest.
For edition clarity, the PlayStation Store lists Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition for PS5 as including the Burning Shores story expansion.
