What is the Black Myth: Wukong boss rush update?
Version 1.0.13.16669 introduced Challenge alongside the Journeyer’s Chart, the Armor Set of Opulence, new soundtrack-library functions, bug fixes, and performance changes. Game Science posted the Steam announcement on December 13, 2024; its stated update time was December 14, 2024 at 10:00 UTC+8. Read the official version 1.0.13.16669 patch announcement.

The Challenge feature has two modes, and each revisits opponents from the main game. Their fight structures and difficulty controls differ:

How do you unlock and access Challenge?
- Complete the game at least once. Challenge is a post-completion feature.
- Visit any Keeper’s Shrine.
- Choose “Challenge” to access Return of Rivals or Gauntlet of Legends.
Defeating an opponent in the main game matters: the corresponding rematch or gauntlet will not be available if that opponent is still undefeated. Gauntlet fights may also include new moves from familiar opponents, so a previous victory may not prepare you for every attack.

What rewards do Gauntlet of Legends runs give?
Completing any Gauntlet of Legends gauntlet awards new rare treasures. The official reward list includes:
- Medicine: Glimmering Scale Pellets and its formula.
- Drink and soaks: Sour Wine, Frost-Enduring Chrysanth, and Robust Antler.
- Curios: Stone Tiger Tally, Ever-Burning Palace Lantern, and Fragment of the Ocean-Settling Pillar.
- Equipment: Three Hill Crown.
- Weapons: Qing Mallet, Fanged Cyan Staff, and Leeching Centipede Staff.
How do you get the Armor Set of Opulence?
The update adds the Armor Set of Opulence, a separate set made up of four special armor pieces. After installing the update, claim it through Trailblazer’s Gift at any Keeper’s Shrine. The patch notes state that the new items in this patch are not required for any game achievements.

Journeyer’s Chart
The Journeyer’s Chart unlocks when the Destined One first enters Black Wind Mountain and meets the Keeper. After reaching a new territory, you can purchase its chart at a Keeper’s Shrine.
Soundtrack Selection
The update added the Black Myth: Wukong Soundtrack Selection application. Some tracks cannot be exported because of copyright restrictions.

Is the boss-rush update the latest patch?
No. Version 1.0.13.16669 is the December 2024 feature update, not the latest update in the official Steam announcements reviewed here. The listing records a later version, 1.0.21.23831, with an update time of January 14, 2026 at 16:00 UTC+8. Its described changes concern bug fixes, including Super Resolution settings, water and snow interactions, a Spirit-related crash, Stone Monkey visual effects, and controller-setting persistence; the listing does not describe new Challenge content.
