What is the Tempest class?
In Blizzard’s game fiction, the Tempests come from the Cold Isles, north of Ivgorod. The feature article portrays them as mist-clad bladedancers who wield water blades and fight alongside Zephyr companions, with abilities focused on movement and elemental attacks. These are descriptions of the class’s fictional setting and gameplay, not real-world history.
Blizzard’s May announcement introduced Tempest as the game’s eighth class and closed with: “May the wind be at your back, and the sea at your grasp.” Read Blizzard’s announcement.
When did Tempest come out?
Blizzard announced the class on May 7, 2024. Its content update scheduled the launch content to go live after maintenance on May 22 for Oceania, China, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe servers, and on May 23 for Americas servers. Blizzard described the Tempest experiences as beginning May 23. These are the original 2024 rollout dates, not a future release window. See the launch schedule and content update.
How players could try Tempest
Blizzard offered several ways to experience the class. Some let players sample Tempest without changing their character’s class; others used a new or existing character.
