A Game8 guide reports that Gurranq gives it to you at the Bestial Sanctum after you bring him one Deathroot. It is most relevant if your build invests in Strength and Faith or you use those bestial incantations—not as a universal damage boost for every spell.
What the Clawmark Seal does
Sacred Seals are used to cast incantations. The Clawmark Seal’s distinctive feature is that it incorporates Strength into incantation scaling, alongside Faith. Its passive effect specifically enhances bestial incantations learned from Gurranq; it does not boost every incantation.

Game8 reproduces the item description as: “Sacred seal granted by Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman. A rare trinket which allows incantations to be scaled with strength. The claw mark represents Gurranq’s wrath. Enhances bestial incantations learned from Gurranq.” This is the in-game description, not a separate performance test. How to get the Clawmark Seal
- Travel to the Bestial Sanctum and speak with Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman.
- Give Gurranq one Deathroot. The Game8 guide reports that he awards the Clawmark Seal in return. See the guide’s acquisition details.
Requirements and base values
Game8 lists the following requirements and base values. These are guide-reported baseline stats, not upgraded values or a prediction of the incantation scaling for a particular character.

For your character’s actual casting results, compare the seal’s displayed incantation scaling at its current upgrade level and your attributes. The baseline numbers alone do not establish how much damage a given incantation will deal.
Is it a good choice for a Strength build?
It is a candidate for a Strength-and-Faith setup, especially if you cast bestial incantations learned from Gurranq. Whether it suits your build depends on the attributes you have invested in, the incantations you use, the seal’s upgrade level, and the incantation scaling shown in your game. The available sources do not establish that it is the best seal overall or provide a controlled comparison against every other seal.

Version 1.12 balance change
Bandai Namco’s official Version 1.12 patch notes, dated June 20, 2024, list the Clawmark Seal among armaments whose attribute scaling was increased. The notes do not specify the size of the increase, so they do not support a more precise numerical claim. Bandai Namco: ELDEN RING Patch Notes Version 1.12
That note documents the change in Version 1.12; it does not by itself establish the item’s balance state in later versions.
