Bradley the Badger Is Wreck-It Ralph-Like in Premise, Not an Adaptation

Bradley the Badger resembles Wreck-It Ralph in its game-hopping setup and layered storytelling, but the announced game has its own story and reported mechanics.

Bradley the Badger shares Wreck-It Ralph’s broad setup: a fictional video-game character moves among game worlds. The resemblance is about premise and self-aware storytelling, not evidence of an adaptation or shared franchise. Day 4 Night Studios’ announced game adds its own focus on unfinished projects and tools for changing them.

Why Bradley the Badger invites a Wreck-It Ralph comparison

In Wreck-It Ralph, a video-game character encounters other games beyond his own. In Bradley the Badger, the mascot of a fictional platform-game series is thrust into unfinished video-game worlds. Engadget described the conceit as similar to the film’s, while VGC reported that co-director Christian Cantamessa cited Wreck-It Ralph and The Lego Movie as examples of stories that can entertain children while offering adults additional layers.

That makes the comparison a useful shorthand for the setup and tone—not a claim that the game adapts the movie, shares its characters, or belongs to the same franchise. Cantamessa described Bradley as “part love letter to videogames and part satire of them,” according to Engadget’s December 11, 2025 report.

What Bradley does in the game

Unfinished worlds are part of the premise

Engadget reported that Bradley visits incomplete game projects, with the reveal trailer showing badger-themed takes on Bloodborne, Cyberpunk 2077, and The Last of Us. These are reported trailer examples, not confirmation that the game reproduces those titles or that its final selection of worlds will be the same.

The Kit turns development tools into reported gameplay

VGC’s preview and interview describe The Kit, an in-game development kit that lets Bradley interact with the world and its unfinished assets. The reported design includes manipulating or transforming objects to solve puzzles, changing asset properties, and debugging incomplete elements such as non-player characters or chests. VGC also characterizes the project as a colorful action-adventure with platforming, puzzle-solving, and systemic gameplay; Cantamessa summed up its gameplay blend as “Mario meets Portal.”

These details come from a preview and developer interview, not independent hands-on testing or a released build. They describe intended mechanics, rather than a guarantee of what the finished game will contain.

How the story looks beyond its game-world satire

Bradley is also reported to mix game-world action with live-action storytelling. Cantamessa told VGC that the live-action element would be integral to both the game and its story, but did not explain its role in detail at that point. The available reporting therefore establishes that this component is planned, not how it will work or how much of the experience it will occupy.

Day 4 Night was founded by Davide Soliani and Christian Cantamessa. Engadget notes their previous credits include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Red Dead Redemption, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and reports that Evan Peters voices Bradley. Those details help explain the project’s mix of game-industry satire and an adventure built around a recognizable mascot, but do not establish anything about the finished game’s quality.

Is Bradley the Badger released, and what platforms are confirmed?

No current release date or confirmed release status is established by the December 2025 reports. Engadget said the team planned a Steam release but had not announced a timeline, with consoles a possibility. VGC reported that Day 4 Night was seeking a publisher to support platforms beyond the announced PC version. Those reports do not confirm a publisher, console version, preorder, or present-day store listing.

Engadget’s report is available at Engadget; VGC’s December 12, 2025 preview and interview is at Video Games Chronicle.
