Black Ops 6 shotgun camo requirements are different in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. This guide lists the Military and weapon-specific Special challenges for the Marine SP, ASG-89, and Maelstrom, followed by each mode’s Mastery requirements. Challenge lists were updated in 2025, so confirm the live requirement in the game’s Camo menu if it differs.
How shotgun camo progression works in Black Ops 6
Each mode has its own camo journey: nine Military camos, two weapon-specific Special camos, and four Mastery camos. Camo progress begins when you obtain a weapon; you do not need to level it first. Special challenges unlock after completing that weapon’s Military challenges. Mastery camos add class or multi-weapon gates, so completing one shotgun’s challenges does not automatically unlock every tier.

Activision describes these separate mode tracks in its Black Ops 6 progression overview and Mastery progression explanation.
Which shotguns are included?
The launch roster included the Marine SP, a pump-action shotgun available immediately, and the semi-automatic ASG-89, unlocked at Player Level 31, according to Blizzard’s launch weapon details. Later challenge lists also include the Maelstrom. Because it is not one of those two launch shotguns, check the live in-game list for its current availability and challenges.

Warzone uses elimination milestones for each shotgun. The challenge list reports these can be completed in Warzone modes including Battle Royale and Resurgence.

How to check a live challenge in game
- Open the Camo menu in the mode you are playing: Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone.
- Select the shotgun and inspect its Military, Special, or Mastery track. Read the displayed requirement before focusing on a challenge, particularly for the Maelstrom’s second Multiplayer Special camo and any roster-dependent Mastery gate.
- Use the official camo tracker to follow the next camo for your last-used weapon. Manually tracked weapons appear ahead of the automatic item. Activision documented this behavior in its Season 05 patch notes.
The exact challenge tables above come from third-party lists last updated in 2025; the official sources establish the mode-specific progression framework, launch roster, and tracker behavior. If a listed requirement conflicts with the current game, use the in-game Camo menu and tracker as the live reference.
